stock amp ?
yes all the speakers run off the same amp, i removed my sub and there is no amp in the box, and only 4 wires going to the sub because it is a DVC sub, i also believe someone said the amp is a 6ch amp.
ok..thanks all. if anyone wants to know the reason i asked is because im goin to hookup my Ipod to the amp. in my old car i had it hooked up through RCA cables from the amp using a Y cable to a headphone jack and it worked perfectly. now i am goin to attempt to do the same in this car. i will let you know how it goes.
all coblats other then the ss/sc only have the internal amp in the hu (or if the pioneer option was added) The amp is under the sterring column sorta where the clutch might be (pretty much directly above pedels)
the amp is a 6 channel amp with each channel wired to 2 ohm (sub is 2 ohm dvc using 2 channels, 6X9s are 2 ohm using 2 channels and the 6.5 and tweeter are either 2 ohm wired with a passive crossover somewhere for a final 2 ohm load or 4 ohm speakers paralleled to 2 ohm with some odd cross

So this might sound stupid.........What would be the best way to wire an after market amp? I just got a Kenwood KAC-6402(its a four channel amp) for Christmas and I am not sure if I should run the wires from the head unit or from the factory amp. By the way I have a ss/sc. So now my other question is how should I wire the sub to this amp?
hmmmmm......you still have a stock deck?? pioneer 7 speaker?? i am not really sure if their is a way you can get it to work with the stock amp unless you have a line out converter. i never touch my stock deck or speakers but i removed my sub and used a line out converter to hook up a mono sub amp and my 2 15s..... i dont think an amp would be worth the pain of having to do all that, maybe trade it in for a sub amp and maybe a better sub....PM me if you need any help....
if your using a 4 chan amp it will be tricky but you can use it for a sub... ive yet to look at the specs on the amp but im assuming it bridges to 2 chan 4ohm... you will need a 4 ohm dvc sub and the gains must be matched perfectly on each side for this to work.... good idea to go to a shop and get them to match gains with a multimeter (shouldnt cost much if thats all ur doing)
u will also need to use the line out convertor like mentioned to get signal from a stock deck

you need to wire it on its own and bypass the stock amp so you dont double amp the speakers
Hey guys, here to resurrect this thread, because it's close to what I'm wondering..
I'm about to buy this Double DIN:
Pioneer 2-DIN CD/ MP3/ USB Car Receiver with iPod/ iPhone/ Android Control (FH-X700BT) : Double DIN Car Decks - Future Shop
I assume it'd be plug and play, or am I a moron?
Thank you!
