Stock amp questions

Wassup everybody... I just bought an 06 SS 2.4L a few weeks ago with Pioneer sound system (and no sub). I'm dying to get my system in there but I've heard it's a real PITA with these cars. I've been reading posts all over and have determined the wiring harness I got from Crutchfield for 15 bucks should work, without losing the info center. I already put my Infinity 6x9s in the rear deck while I had everything out. My main question is, even tho I don't have the stock subwoofer, I still have an amp under the dash powering all my other speakers don't I? I have an Alpine headunit I want to install that pushes all my infinitys great with it's internal amplifier. So what do I have to do, take the amp out, n just connect the wiring going in and out of it together so there's no middleman there? I don't really care about the tweeters working anymore as long as I can get all the Infinity's blaring (have the door speakers too just haven't installed them yet).

Thanks in advance, this seems to be a great community for Cobalts.

No if you don't have the sub then you don't have an amp. Sorry. And internal amps on all head units suck if you want to be technical about it.

Alright cool, makes it alot easier then. The Alpine headunit does push my Infinity References really good though, they scream but have no bass to them at all, but that's what my Kicker amp n L7 12 are for They sounded great without an external amp in my last car, I might add one later but I'm looking to spend my money under the hood. Thanks man appreciate the quick reply

No problem man. And there are lots of 4-channel amps that sound good and can be had for little money.

Installed everything without a hitch with the normal $15 wiring harness. Where all the bad stories about putting stereos in these cars come from? It was just like every other car I've ever done lol

The 06's are easy to do....the DIC and the chimes dont go through the radio on them which is a godsend.....I did my system and didnt use any of the factory wires at all, just ran all my own wires and everything worked fine. Mind you i am using 2 amps and all aftermarket JL speakers and subs so there was no need to use the factory amp or speakers.....Just my 2 cents.....Later

Onstar sucks. And I got an 07, so I might just keep the stock head unit and use a 3Sixty.
