Stock radio Reprogramming??

Soi have the silver stock radio/cd player and im looking at getting a Black stock radio/cd player. i was reading some of the descriptions on ebay and they say they need to be unlocked by the dealer after they are put in a different vehicle? anybody ever done this? just wondering what the cost to do is?

my car didnt come with one when i bought it. got one from a friend then went to dealer to program it. final price was $82 or 88$ one of those lol. hope this helps

forgot to also say the reason they program it is to change the vin radio to the vin on your car. theft deturant they say...

dang!! thats quite a bit... yeah i knew it was for theft deturant, but that kinda sux for people who buy them. i might just keep my silver one now, even tho it doesnt match any interior now... lol!

Ya they need to be reprogrammed wih your cars VIN for the theft system. They typically charge an hours labour which can vary from $80-$100. Or you can find a buddy at a dealer, thats the cheapest

the faceplate can be removed and swapped then u get the now silver radio and sell it on ebay
