Okay guys, I have a 2009 LT coupe and I'm replacing the stock head unit and i see that people have posts that say about having the onstar working and thee door chime. Well my Cobalt was a fleet vehicle so it has no onstar, no xm, and I don't care about the door chime. Do I still have to buy that $100 harness that Scosche has on their website or can I just buy one from like ebay? If you guys know of a harness that would work plzz post a link on the thread. k thanks bye :-)

 

I believe yes you do still need to buy that harness because the chime i think is on a class 2 data line

 

no if you don't care about the chimes and don't have xm or any of that then you can buy the cheap harness. but personally i would spend the money and the get harness that is for your car that allows for full operation of its features.

 

If I do buy the cheap harness will I still have my turn signal chime? I don't care about the door but I'd like to keep the turn signal.

 

nope, those chimes go through the same data line as the door chime, which go through the stereo.

 

hmm well I do always have my music blasting that I never hear the turn signal anyway haha. thanks guys

im just a little put back that the op said i dont wanna pay for the 100 dollar harness i dont care about chimes can i buy the cheap one. then after u said yes he said well wait a minute i want my turn signal chime

if you get a harness and the only chime u care about is turn signal get the Scosche one. normally id say only metra bc it is truly a better product BUT the way they do the turn signal chime is stupid and u wouldn't hear it anyway

 

i can't remember which one i have in mine, all i know is i can adjust how loud the chime is
