Sub Suggestions

Well a new job has finally given me the chance to do an audio upgrade but the problem is when it comes to car audio I really know nothing. So I come to you guys for some help! What i'm looking for is some tasteful bass, im not into "ghetto bass" so to speak. I dont care about people hearing me a mile down the road and Im not looking to rattle my trunk lid loose or bust any windows, i just want some nice clear bass. Idealy i dont want to have to spend an arm and a leg, i dont really have a set price range so im open to w/e i guess. So any advice on size, number of subs, brand, power/amps would all be helpful. And also just cause im curious if you had to choose an in dash dvd HU would you get double DIN nav style or a flip out and why? Just looking for some pros and cons and what you all think. Well i really hope someone can help me in the right direction.......Oh and also ive searched but havent really found anything for sure on what type of wire harness i need for an 07 LS, i dont have steering controls and dont care about keeping the door chimes or blinker clicks. Thanks in advance guys!

as far as the in-dash player, i'd go with the screen (that doesn't flip out) .. looks a lot better, IMO and it doesn't cover up your vents.. haha.. check out xspyder85x's thread, hes selling one, it's nice too... just a thought.

ive never heard of bose having anything for cars....and i couldnt afford their stuff anyway. I just want something that bumps nice without a lot of distortion. Doesnt have to be very loud, i prefer quality over having a system that just pounds.

for a sub id get one or two diamond audio or alpine type R's, 10" subs in a sealed box, the combo of the 10 inchers and the sealed box will make for a nice crisp bass

and i donno anything about the 07's wiring, sorry

bose is decent for stock only... they dont do aftermarket and if they do it would sound like **** and be pointless.

Reason why i never answered is because your too vauge... sure i can design a bomb system in my eyes and let you know but that doesnt mean you will like it. Do a little more research, listen to some setups in a few shops and go from there...

dude, get some nice kicker mid bass speakers or maybe 2 10s with a small amp would be enough base. you will not lose your door chimes with an aftermarket stereo and since you do not have stering wheel controls, like myself, then that not a problem. i would however replace the font and rear speakers with some components and throw a nice small 4 channel amp in there to power those. check my threads for my system. i have a little too much base than what your looking for but youll get the idea for the speakers and amps.

I'll try to put this in simple terms: The smaller the sub, the harder and more defined the bass is. The larger the sub, the more 'spread out' the hit is, making it more of a vibration. I personally like 2 10's because it pretty much gives you both sounds.

I would go with some 10 inch infinity subs (1 or 2 if you want a little more), preferably the Kappa or the Perfect series. They will be nice and crisp and not cost you a fortune. They are not the loudest subs in the world but as you said that is not really what you are looking for.

As for the head unit. I too would go with the double din. The install is cleaner and they are a bit more durable than the flip outs. I have seen people catch things on the flip out screens. And as said before they screen on the flip out will cover the vents.
