Subwoofer and sound
Subwoofer and sound
Ok guys. I have a 91 cavalier with the stock sound system in it. Now my mothers 02 impala with the bose sound is amazing. great bass response. Now since the cobalt comes factory installed with a 10" woofer how does it actually thump? Is it amazing or comparable to an aftermarket 10". and how many watts is the sub pushing?
to me....its definetly not enough juice.....and since the sound box is so small......i dont find the bass deep enough......but still.......a lot better than without a sub........im disappointed maybe coz i had more expensive subs than this one
as for sound in general.......the pioneer speakers have clear high frequency......but ....not enough detail in the mid range

It really depends on what you want to listen to and how much bass you want!
haha sounds like you need to get a good system with a good install
i didnt buy the upgraded sound bc i was gonna upgrade the sound myself
The sub doesnt' have it's own volume control which sucks. It's tied into the rear speakers. So the way it is set up, you aren't really taking full advantage of what it has to offer.
Aside from that, it's adequate. It's not going to blow your doors off, break your windows, or let everyone down the street know you're coming a mile away, but it gets the job done. If you need more than that.. it isn't for you. I'm not a huge bass person and am happy with it. Anyone who is about bass will probably find it underpowered. As far as bass accuracty.. I think it does a decent job.
I'd say it's comparable to the lower end of the aftermarket 10" subs.

The Pioneer stereo is almost perfectly balanced. I am past my days of wasting money on aftermarket crap. If you are used to no treble or mids and only mind numbing bass you will most likely not be 100% satisfied with the Pioneer stereo option.

Not everyone who utilizes powerful subwoofers have no trebel and bass.
In my 2002 Ford Escort SE, I have 2 MTX 9500 (1500 RMS a piece), 2 MTX 1501D Monoblock Amplifiers (About 15000 RMS a piece as well), An alpine 7893R Headunit, 2 JL Audio 5.9 Component Speakers powered by a Pheonix Gold 2500 Amplifier, and 2 MB Quart 6.9's (I don't know the model number of these, someone gave them to me as a gift and I never bothered to look.) powered by a Crossfire 37.5 Amplier.
To make a long story short; I can easilly break 130dB, and the clarity of the mid and high range at very high volumes is still as accurate with mind-numbing bass response well below 50hz. Building a quality system is IMPORTANT; As long as everything in the Cobalt SS is seemingly evened out, I won't care about bass like that. Won't be wasting my time with the heavy ass subs either, because my current setup weighs well over 175 lbs.

I used to install car stereos down here and used to work for Ed Eason. I don't know if you've heard of him, but he broke the 174db record about 4 years ago. I helped build that van.
