Sunrise MJ 360 help
Sunrise MJ 360 help
since you work for a rf dealer and happen to have one of these hot units (grr jealous lol) im got an idea of what im going to do with my system and i want to see if you think it would work and tweek it if nessicary... anyway i want a 5.1 setup running all active crossovers. Equiptment used for front stage 2 power coax, 4 FNQ 6.5s, 2 X1t tweetes, 4 FNQ tweeters, 2 HX2 8s. Rear stage will be 4 Power/FNQ 6.5s, 4 power/FNQ tweeters, 2 12s.
360.2 1
center= 2 6.5 coax
front= 4 6.5 midrange
back= 2 4" midrange
sub= 1 8 midbass
360.2 2
center 1 8 midbass
front 4 6.5 midrange
back 10 tweeters
sub 2 12 subs
Only problem with above plan is back tweeters playing the sound from the front... the easiest way i see to fix this would be take out the 4" FNQs but im trying to keep them if possible.

im pretty sure sunrise mj might... lol what do you want to know and ill explain it.... i just asked if i could run this set up all active (only using electric crossovers) and still get a true 5.1 (surround sound with 5 channels and a sub channel)... the unit im talking about only supplies 6 outputs per unit and i have a total of 22 speakers. and ill need a good amount of amplifier channels to keep it all active
I am just wondering why so much? In a different thread you were talking about doing an SQ system. If you want to do SQ this is too much. Simplicity wins SQ contests. A front stage and a woofer is what wins SQ.
I have never done a 5.1 set up in a car but I have done them in house theater systems and again simple is usually best. I personally think you are going overboard with this system, but I do think it may work... I don't know much else to tell you this is just my 2c.

lol i know i know... i was mainly focused on sq but ive found out that dts is doing some 5.1 comps thru usaci... so i wanna attempt that because its newer and sounds alot like i liek to listen to music. but anyway if that falls through i will be able to use my thrifty 360.2 units to save an infinant ammount of tunes. so ill try the 5.1 and if that doesnt work well ill leave everything in for daily then when it somes to sq events... unplug a few speakers throw the kill switch on a few amps and i should be good there. but overall no matter what happens in competition this is my dd so im not concerned if i get all kinds of trophys and go to this orgs final that orgs final i just want to be able to jam if i need too
I'd say cut that down some. You only need a set of tweets, front and real mid range, a mid bass and a bass. I mean, the crazy complex setup in my truck only had 14 and 5 amps speakers. Your talking about 22 speakers and what... 7 to 9 amps?! Your going to have an interesting time working out the sound stage for that and finding good mounting points for all those speakers. Plus your going to need a massive alternator and most likely 2 batteries, along with a tone of caps.
lol but my fnq 4s look so pretty... fine those are cut. unless i were to use them as center speakers with a 1 or 2 of the fnq tweeters... it would cut down on the tweeters up front and i would be able to use them badass speakers but i would loose midbass on the center channel and seeing as ive never been to a dts comp i dont know the testing regulations/material
updated plan
360.2 1
center= 2 6.5 coax or 2 FNQ 4" midrange with 1 or 2 tweeters passive
front= 4 6.5 midrange 4 tweeters passive
back= 2 8 midbass
sub= 2 12s
360.2 2
center=
front= 4 6.5 midrange 4 tweeters passive
back=
sub=
360.2 1
center= 2 6.5 coax or 2 FNQ 4" midrange with 1 or 2 tweeters passive
front= 4 6.5 midrange 4 tweeters passive
back= 2 8 midbass
sub= 2 12s
360.2 2
center=
front= 4 6.5 midrange 4 tweeters passive
back=
sub=
updated plan looks ok... center id do the two 4" with one tweeter... i would do one tweeter for every two woofers as well...
and with that maybe you should do one 360.1 and one 360.2... you wont have as much control over the rear, but you'd save enough money lol...
man if all this goes through, you have ALOT of work ahead of you lol

lol that leaves me with alot of tweeters extra... but sounds good... ill probably install all of them but only run 1 per (plus 1 pair in the stock locations) that way i can add if needed since i cant glass... this really makes me wonder how much of a hook up you got on that 360.2
anyway ya its going to be fun getting this to work but im determined... plus i got everything in except the subs, sub amp, and center amp... just working on finding frc grills for everything (cept subs bit if i could get something done for those i would be happy as hell) then again i just put the power grills on the fnqs and they look nice but i need the speakers covered for usaci rules

well probably at a local shop
but if i was able to get a willing cobalt in south dakota to let a fiberglasser i know there get some molds from their car i would probably do a large chunk of it myself... i can easily connect it all (although i need some heat shrink or something for that rf gamma wire) im just iffy on removing all the panels and stuff in the car... ill get the center channel done at the local shop for sure thou. if it comes out like im hoping it will its going to be nice
This may help you if you want to take a look at it. Glassing for newbies. This is one of the more helpful guides I have found when I was trying to start, just because it gives some pics while alot were just write-ups. Car audio and electronics Mag has also done a few write-ups on what needs to be done.
I have found that you have to just get in there and do it though. It is not really going to be what you expect untill you do it. Don't be afraid to get in there and try. If you screw up you screw up. Start with some small things so you are not wasting a ton of materials at first. You will get better over time. Just like anything else Practice makes per-- well practice makes any one better. I won't say that anyone is ever perfect.
