cel leads to floating lifter......

been running an injen cai for the past 6 months with no cel and then boom it happens. so i take it in to find out whats going on. i could feel the car hesitate on hard accelerations and when i left off the gas so i figured it would be an easy fix. the car was running lean and turns out the software running my car was not gm sanctioned and the reflashed me. right before they reflashed the car they found at least 5 codes that caused cels that never came on. well all i can say is it runs much nicer now for the time being.

now on to the lifter. two months ago i took my car into phillips chevy to get it checked for this rattling noise that happened between shifts. they told me it was just the car breaking in and sent me on my way. i can hear this noise over my sport cat back and if thats normal its bullshit so i go to sunrise chevy a few more miles away and they tell me to bring my car in monday as they have b\never heard of this problem being documented. the service advisor is confident its a floating lifter but wants to take the engine apart to be sure.

on a side note. phillips told me if they look into the noise it would be at me own cost with no car to drive. they suck ass. sunrise chevy told me i'll be getting a loaner. great people over there. phillips is supposed to be the bigger stealer of the two but their service sucks and they wont ever see me again.

In first gear when i let off the gas at 3K+ rpm, the car almost feels like i hit the brakes. I don't think this is a problem because supercharged cars having ungodly throttle response.

Anyway, good luck and let us know what they find out.

my service advisor left a message on tuesday stating that the car wasn't finished cause they located some other problems. then he called my yesterday and told me they also found a bad cylinder(sp) head. i cant wait to sell this damned car. it had paint defects from the factory and now this. even though its under warranty should we really have to put up this nonesense?

I don't understand the problem. You got a loaner to drive while they repair your car under warranty. So you get to dog the **** out of the loaner while saving mileage on your car while it's fixed for free? Have they had it for more than a week? What else could they do for you?

I understand the frustration of having your car in the shop, but no one can guarantee that there won't be warranty issues with a new car. All they can do is fix them for free if there is a problem. I'm 50 yrs old and have owned several GM products as well as Ford (the worst junk I've ever had), Nissan, Toyota, and Honda, to name a few. Of the GM products I've owned (Chevy, Pontiac, GMC and Buick), I have had the best reliability of any of them. That's why I keep coming back. By the way, when the dash wiring fried on my Honda Civic (after having it for a less than a month) they did not give me a loaner while my car was in the shop. Plus, you won't have to wait while a part is flown in from Japan, like I had to for a Toyota I had, or Germany, like I had to for a BMW I once had.

Knock on wood, I've had zero warranty problems with my Cobalt so far (10k miles). I hope they fix your's soon.

found out friday night it wont be ready to monday at best. what happened to the engine they still dont understand so they replaced the entire top half. what is the top half anyway?

for all the potential flamers i dont hate my balt. i love it but would have apperciated a little better craftsmanship. thats all, i know you all feel the same way or we wouldn't have come here to help each other fix the problems we find.

doesnt matter which company your talking about....
if the cars are <40k and not handmade....not every single one will be perfect.
EVERY brand will have occasional defects.

I know it sucks....but they seem to be lookin after you....

just part of owning a vehicle really.

what did the rattling noise sound like? was it only when between shifts? like when you depressed, or let out the clutch? did it always happen?
