Thinking about getting a car alarm system

Someone has keyed my car a few times (nothing serious, doesn't break the clear coat, I have a rough idea of who did it, but have no proof) and today I found a new scratch that looks like someone took sandpaper to my ******* hood!

So I'm thinking about getting a car alarm to deter this vandalism. (and hopefully catch the ****** thats been doing this on camera )

I need something under 500 bucks. I already have remote start, keyless entry, and a trunk popper. So I need JUST the security system.

I'm not very educated on alarms so fill me in. I want something that will let me know via cellphone, pager, whatever that my car is being fucked with and that will go off if someone even so as touches my car with their pinky toe.

Any suggestions?

Unless you get a proximity sensor and set it ridiculously sensitive, you can forget about the alarm being a deterrent to scratching your car.

My advice, no kidding around, get a cheap couple hundred dollar in-car monitoring system (camera). Something like a CCTV set-up, that records directly to the cameras HD. This can be motion activated so you can catch the person doing it and make them pay.

The alarm will not help you most likely. Im an installer, and that's my opinion.

I agree, and if you chose to set the proxy sensor THAT sensitive, be prepared to be turning it off like every hour on the hour.

Camera FTW
