Upgrade of sub, use existing stock sub wires....

I was currious if there was a way to put an aftermarket AMP and sub's in the back of the SS without having to upgrade the head unit? Is there any way to tap off the signal of the stock sub, run that to the aftermarket amp, and then run that to the subs and get your base from your after market subs and no longer the stocker?

Just currious IF and HOW this can be done?

I have my old Sentra's subs and amp in my attic, and I am just currious if I should sell it to get rid of it, or if there was a way to incorporate it into my Cobalt with minimal effort?

uhh i did put a JL Audio 10 inch W7 to the stock headunit, and sounded horrible, the headunit did not make it sound good at all, no control on the bass also, i suggest a aftermarket deck

as in you just bolted the W7 to the stock wiring? as in the stock SS amp was powering it?

Or did you also add a bigger amp at the same time? Cause I have been out of the audio game for a while, but if I remember correctly the W7 is a power hungry sub, and IM sure the stock cobalt amp, after its done powering all the speakers, cant feed that thing.

If your going to add an aftermarket sub, you might as well put in an aftermarket deck as well. The problem with the stalk system is that the deck does not have a sub controller like the aftermarket decks do. And all the speakers are powered with a single amp. So you end up getting bass coming from not only your sub, but from your 6.5's and 6/9's as well.

If you put in a aftermarket head unit that has a sub controller you can then add a really good sub were most of the bass will come from.

while that is true you can also get an amp like a rf model with a wired remote you can control the bass thru the amp... but yes an aftermarket deck is optimal but not nessicary
