Upgrading stock sub
Upgrading stock sub
I am looking get more punch out of my stock setup. I have the optional Pioneer system but I want more bass and I heard replacing the factory sub is a good start. Anyone have subs they recommend, I heard these were good but there are no local dealers near me.

Was going to say run a Fosgate... but im a bit biased since my Balt has 2x12 inch Fosgates...
Make sure u get a better amp and put it in the stocker amp isn't going to push a new sub around... but keep the stock amp for the speakers...

Don't get Kicker CVT's, they are 10" and shallow but the mounting circle has a plastic rim on it and it probably wont fit. Are you replacing the stock amp? If not, I don't see why getting a powerful sub would be beneficial. I have a couple new boston G1's that would work great if your not getting an amp!
Edit: And no, you can't upgrade an amp. I don't know what size the stock one is, but adding a different sub will help A LITTLE as it may be more efficient/draw more power from the stock amp, it probably won't distort at higher levels with the bass turned up and it may hit lower notes. But not a large difference, not much more thump. If you want loudness, gotta get an amp/sub combo. If your replacing the sub make sure the stock box's volume dimensions match up with the subwoofer's suggested volume, having the right box/sub combination can make or break a system.

the time, money, and energy you would spend trying to "upgrade" the stock system will not produce enough benefit to make it worth it. i would take a the money and energy and spend it on replacing stock pieces instead of "upgrading." the reason I say this is because the stock box was not designed to do anymore than what it is doing now. Putting a new sub in a stock (crapy) box wont help much. Also, more than likely a new sub would require more power than the stock amp is capable of making. i would say use a line converter and get a new sub and amp if all you want is more bass.
