Viper Security -How-To-
If you're curious, the process is like this:
- With the car running, shift to neutral
- Depress the foot brake
- While holding the foot brake, pull the parking brake
- Release the foot brake
- Press any button on the RS/Alarm remote
- Turn off the ignition and remove the key, the car will continue to run
- Get out of the car
- Arm the alarm system; the car will automatically shut down.
With this method, the alarm knows you have to leave it in neutral with the parking brake on in order to get out and arm it. If a door is opened at any point after doing this, it cancels the ready mode, which means the car won't remote start.
Now some will leave the alarm in automatic mode and that's when bad **** happens.
The new Vipers REQUIRE a tach wire for manual mode. No way around it.
Neutral safety goes to the handbrake.
As far as a clutch bypass, you need another relay. You have to use the really short remote start relay harness (the one with all of the RS negative outputs) to jump the clutch wires.
85 to +12v
86 to remote start harness: starter (-) output
30 to one wire of the clutch (tap)
87 to the other wire of the clutch (tap)
87a not used
As far as the XK module, I don't recommend D2D. To this day it is very unstable, and I have had problems with various cars. W2W is 100% and much easier to troubleshoot.
Good luck man...gimme a shout if you have any questions.

Correct, new Vipers have a virtual tach, however if you are doing the manual mode on the new units you must hook it up to tach, voltage sense and virtual tach will not work. As far as clutch bypass, on 05-07 it should be a yellow wire that is a positive trigger, all you have to do is hook your start output from the unit to the clutch, no relays required. As far as d2d goes, to each their own. I have had no problems using it on any gm cars, some other cars are definitely a little sketchy.

Yeah I don't have a manual, so I didn't know any of the wires... but yeah that's a lot easier. I usually just don't fuss with it and jump the in and the out with a relay on cars I'm not familiar with.
Personally, D2D was always a little awkward with me for the couple times I have used it... since then I never have...but its been a couple years too. I'm sure its improved. Hell, I even stay away from the XKs whenever I can as it is.
since i'm using the XK do i still need to use a 1500ohm ressitor to be abel to run the power locks..or is that not needed?
what 6 plug pin are you talking about...my bad for all the noob questions...i odnt have everything laid out in front of me n ive had other stuff goin on for the past few weeks..just tryin to make sure ive got most of it all figured out before i dig in..
The only things you need to hook up from that bypass is the d2d cable which gives the module power and ground, the blue/white status wire, and the violet starter wire. Everything else goes to the 6 pin plug as shown. Then like I said before you obviously have all the connections from the brain that you must hook up to the wires of the vehicle. Hope this helps a little.

The 6 pin plug of the car, the one in the diagram that you connect to. Should be a green connector I believe, has a red/white, a yellow, and 4 other colors. If you take the steering column shroud off and look up at the ignition switch you can't miss it. As far as the resistor for the locks goes, yes you need to do that. Since the bypass is doing transponder only and not combo, you have to do everything else manually. For example: locks, trunk pop, door and trunk triggers, tach signal, etc. On 07+ cars you can get bypasses that will do all of those for you, but in your case you have to find them and do it yourself.
Not trying to knock ya, but you didn't even need to buy one, granted it was only $.99 but just letting you know. If you have a Viper 5701 inside with all the contents of the package you will find a 451m relay pack, which you will be using to hook up your locks. It just so happens that the 451m comes with several different resistor values including 1500. But nothing wrong with having an extra in case you accidentally break it during install(it's happened to me before)
