Voltage Drop
Voltage Drop
Ok, I'm having an odd issue. This is the full length version, I'll TL;DR it at the bottom as well.
I recently was told my back-up lights were out, so naturally, I figured they somehow were both blown at the same time. I also decided I would switch to LED. So I pop the covers off, switch one of the bulbs, and no dice. I didn't really think, and figured it was a fuse, so I switched that, and now the other bulb, which is still incandescent, turns on dimly. Still very confused, so I just try and put both LEDs in, to no avail. The one side is now just a dim LED. I called up my buddy and he brought over a voltmeter to test it. We found that I'm only getting ~6.3V to the socket, rather than 12V. Which doesn't make much sense to me. Has anyone else seen this before? Or have any ideas of a fix?
TL;DR= Back-up lights are only receiving ~6.3V and I can't figure out why.
Any help would be much appreciated, also, I'm in a G5 so the placement is a little different. (My trunk looks cleaner

First thing I'd do is remove both bulbs from the reverse sockets and test voltage again from the back.
Then move up to the BCM and check the wires for the reverse lights straight out of it.
Then come back and let us know what you found.

Well, if it's 12v up at the BCM, and only 6v at the wires in the back with the bulbs completely removed......I'd say you probably have a weak connection somewhere along the way...like a wire was stretched or the like. Do you have a resistor attached to these wires before the spot where they connect to the bulb?
