why is my amp shutting off!!
i have been trying to figure this out all day. whenever i turn up the music the danm amp shuts off. i have had 3 systems in the past and done my homework on car audio.. i am stumped. i changed my remote wire to an acc. wire, did nothing. i turned the volt sensitivity down... helps a little. but not much. if i turn it up just a little more the amp goes into protect mode. then i turn the cd played down and it turns back on... im pretty sre i have a good ground too.
Your amp probably has a OHM Cut off so that it won't ovrheat most are set at either 4 ohms or maybe 2 ohms. Do you have dual voice coils on your subs? If so you will have to find a diagram that will show you how to wire them so that they are at 8 ohms and then run them parallel on the amp to bring them at 4 ohms.
I had to do this to mine anyway.

ok, what i have are the kenwood kfc xw100 2vc 10inch woofers they are from the excelon line. i have them ran from a 2 channel excelon kac-x812d amp. i have ran them straight one channel to one vc. and i have tryed running them bridged too. it just keeps shutting off. i have two of these amps and both do the same thing..
what you are doing is asking the amp to perform outside of its ability which is causing the amp to clip out, and what brand amp is it, most say the are 2 ohm stable but the heat produced by that little of resistance causes it to thermal protect which sounds like your problem, and im sorry but i have never seen any kenwood run 1ohm stable. the problem lies in the ohm load of the subs, make sure they are wired no lower than 2 ohms, what is the ohm rating of the subs voice coil.
right now i have taken the speaker wires from the amp, i can run them any way now. i think i was running them at 4 ohms.
i like that head unit by the way. (your pionnier.)
by the way. just so you know im only talking about one amp and one sub here.
