wiring head unit
Im using the metra 70-2202 harness for my 08 cobalt. Just a couple of questions about wiring it together. Pulled out the radio and noticed that some of the pins dont line up. It could just be because the plastic is thicker on the wiring harness so they cut out a row of empty pins anyways. So is the harness going to have to be repined?
Also the orange, orange/white, and the red wires arent used. I know the accessory one goes into the fuse box, But what about the illumination(orange) and Dimmer(orange/white) ones. Are they not used or do they have to be repined?
Also some of the pins are not used from the factory harness. Im assuming those are the chimers and some of the data ones that dont work with the metra. Correct me if im wrong.
The wires that say amp ground and amp turn on. Are those talking about the internal amplifier, or is that the remote wire for external amplifiers?
Also this is for nonpioneer and no onstar

orange and oragne white dont exist. those are off data via gm lan so ignore. amp ground never hook up and remote is for the pioneer amp to turn on. without the pioneer stock setup both of those should be blank.
all you should get that's correct is the speaker wires and constant/ground red acc needs to be ignored and ur own wire ran to the fusebox

also if anyone remembers when i said my subs didnt put out much below 35 hz. Well there must be a filter in the stock head unit because my subs came alive once i got the eclipse in. Just thought i would let you guys know

well your 6x9's wont sound much better in the lower Hz region, but with the extra power from the head unit and plus a more clear signal they will sound better for sure
I immediately noticed how much better my stock speakers sounded just with the new Headunit. Cant wait to hear my comps now. Just waiting another week or 2 till i put those in
