1JZ turbo swap?
K so my buddy out here is buildin his engine an takin the twin Turbos off his 1JZ so he can throw some other stuff on. I was talkin to him the other day an he said he'd let a turbo go for cheap as fawk, AND he'd help me put it on an all that..
I told him I'd think about it... but would a swap like this even be worth it?? I'm not talkin price wise cuz I'd be gettin it for almost next to nuthin
powerwise tho.. anything?? I got an 09 SS/TC btw..

It would be an absolute waste of time and money. You could gain 10-15 hp max potential over the stock turbo but your low end power would be abysmal. It also wouldn't be an easy swap. You would need an adapter (longer oil lines, new fittings) or a new manifold, a new downpipe, and a bypass valve/blow off valve (just off the top of my head).
You're talking about 15-20 year old turbo technology here.

That would be a complete waste of time and would make your car run like crap.
Not only are those old Supra turbos garbage, they are also not very efficient, so you would gain nothing.
If you are looking for an upgraded turbo, wait until ZZP releases their new EFR turbo line in the near future. They will make tons more power than stock, but are direct bolt on units that look OEM. They feature stainless housings, titanium compressor wheels, ceramic ball bearings, and spool just like stock but with more power
