Boost guage readings

This may be a dumb question but i have never used a boost guage that reads 0-35 mine have always been your normals that show a - number as well. When idleing with a supercharger what should the guage be showing? I am reading 5 psi at idle.

yep, you should NOT be showing any boost at idle. Could be a bypass valve issue id guess.

any idea were to start to maybe correct this issue. i have it hooked directly into the manifold for pressure, I just never had one that didnt read the -s so i didnt no if it should idle at 0 or show pressure

you have a boost gauge only, correct? if so, check to see if you can calibrate it. i highly doubt you have 5 psi idling. if you turn off the engine what doe sthe gauge do? if you try to go into boost what does the gauge do? what make of gauge is it?
