Use Amsoil in my lsj cause I hate changing oil in my driveway at home in the winter lol. Now that I work in a shop again though I will probably stick with whichever high quality oil I can get on sale.

My LNf on the other hand has only seen European formula castrol. And will continue that way unless I can find euro Mobil. Euro oils have low ash content which seem to agree with the di

AMSOIL is a great product. alot of manufacturers are going away from mobil one and switching to pennzoil believe it or not. their product quality has certainly increased over the years. I know dodge is one of these companies.

lol last time I bought it it was $55 shipped to my door for 5 quarts and a filter. I'll run Mobil1 before I pay $95 for oil and a filter for Amsoil.

I dont really care what color it is stained, as long as it is not sludged and properly lubricated.

In my personal opinion it boils down to what additives are in what oils and what the manufacturing process and quality control is and the amount of those additives or parts per million.

Changing oil in an engine is like changing the structure of the wear on how things previously wore in , You change the the wear pattern on moving parts and things can go wrong quicker as well.

You use oils claiming insanely high intervals before changing with high prices with tons of other additives such as konklin on a forced induction car you are just asking for it .

Oil cooled turbos don't like tons of additives and the high heat breaks them down faster

For example Royal Purple sucks bawls because it thinks it can add purple dye and loads of ZDDP and claim its some miracle oil.

There are other vendors out there that claim the oil that comes from a certain geographical locations is better because you start off with a better base ingredient you end up with a better over all product.

You want an oil thats been tested to run with the most reliability and consistency in quality control

Which mobil1 seems to be doing very well

It's possible that motor oil rumors spread like wild fires . There are such things as bad batches ..

Just remember where the line " SNAKE OIL SALESMAN" came from and ask your self.

Does a multi billionaire Company who has millions of dollars for patent attorneys and armies of scientist out weigh the competition ? In this technocratic world it's about money and who has the most for R&D / marketing.

In this realm you are going to tell me it's either RP or AMS ...

Mobil 1 fully bolted tuned been threw 3 sets of tires 46k on the clock e85 25 degrees of timing ..

To each there own. I know that my engine is loving everyday the fact that its running Amsoil. Smooth, clean and performs. Run my other vehicle on Amsoil as well.

Interesting... WHy does Mobil 1 suck now though?

I wanted to try AMSoil when I had got the motor re-built, but it's a little to inconvenient to get... No one of the dealers here had enough supply to get me 5qt's so it was gonna take at least 3 days to ship it to me. Can't say I was impressed. I continue to use Mobil1 Syn ever since I've had the car. No sludge at all.

No one is saying that Mobil 1 sucks, its still works and does a good job, there is just oil out there that performs better.

Mobil 1 craps out really fast for me.

Amsoil is still running good even after a full weekend track session (road course not 1/4 mile BS)

Open road racing is much more stressful on an engine.

Mobil 1 was only street driving. This is the first oil change i switched to amsoil (amsoil was in the car for the track session) and its doing better than mobil 1.

Not as dark as quickly.

Mobil 1 when heated A LOT could hear slight knocking (oil was probably thinning too much).

Amsoil i dont hear anything.

As for oil getting darker quicker, that actually means the oil is doing its job. As an oil cleans the engine it will get darker. I would worry if the oil is not getting dark as that means the detergents are not working.

Anyone that says one oil is better than the other, supply facts by providing an UOA. An oil cannot be determined quality by seat of your pants.

Fact of the matter is how many people here have experienced engine failure due to Mobil 1?

If you really want to find out how its working with your engine send an oil test out to a lab.

If you are paying $95 you are getting ripped off sorry to say. Even an LSJ with 7 qts of Signature series and a filter isnt even $80.
