on an all stock car with stock turbo it varies... It's Tq on demand and set to make that set number if it takes 15-20+ psi to get there and nothing more! ( ive seen as low as 15 and as high as 23 atleast All stock depending on altitude) All stock motor and turbo with even just a set tune to run 30 LBS is to much and will cause problems with maxing out the turbo. 30 Psi aint to much on the stock block and head depending on it's delivery if running after market turbo! Smooth delivery is key!

Well my turbo is not stock, and ive seen it make upwards of 60psi. So what im trying to find out is much is too much for the valve springs. I think its about 28 to 29 because if i turn it down just a little it runs great.

I think the general consensus is that 22-23 is considered safe.

I think everyone in this thread is confused. On the stock turbo, yes 24 psi is the highest you want to go because the K04 is so far out of it's efficiency range that all its doing is making heat and destroying ringlands. V8THIS is on a much larger turbo. I always though valve float was more of an rpm issue than a boost issue. How high are you revving?

I sure hope you typed 60 instead of 30

The K04 can make mean torque at 28-30 psi. Nathan with the current car of the month is running 27 or 28 if I remember correctly and his old one was on 29 or 30 for thousands of miles. He's making 324 hp 421 tq with the stock K04. I had always thought it was super inefficient over 24 but from a torque stand point you gain a nice amount cranking it up. Him and a few other guys had no problem proving me wrong when I started that argument.

That's besides the point though.

Isn't the recommended limit 68-7000 on stock springs until you start having issues with float?

i dont rev above 6400 i have not changed the rev limiter from stock, and the 60 psi was true, the vacuum line for the boost controller fell of the turbo and the wastegate never opened, the digital gauge went to 60 and stopped, it happened so fast it was rediculous! didnt break anything tho.

Ive seen stock motors on turbo swaps do 30 PSI no problem.. Dart for example with his setup! There are plenty of turbo swaps in the 25-30 range and safe! Just depends on delivery!

Different turbo, different scenario.

There is no way the stock turbo is spooled to 60psi.

I've always run a 26psi tune. Full E85 on the stock turbo, making 359whp/418wtq (dynojet). Daily driven for 2 years, with many road track days, stock internals just basic boltons. Then upgraded to the ZFR, running E47 @26psi. Didn't get to dyno since my trans expired on the very first track day

BTW I like your screen name Do you have the matching plates?
