Alot of the high compression supercharged cars have blow off valves to prevent an intake explosion...not sure about the cobalt.

Or try contacting a vendor that is going to make aftermarket parts for the Cobalt.

yea, like I said it maybe a dumb question...I relooked thru sum older threads and the specs were out...from wut I read on the posts and thru reasarching roots type superchargers can't not have a aftermarket BOV it already has a internal BOV that is currently in use....oh well...that's cool tho

Well by internal BOV they mean a wastegate. I don't believe supercharged cars have an area for mounting a BOV per se. All forced induction has a wastegate in some kind (and turbos can mount BOV's over the wastegate basically to release pressure faster, and make a cool sound) It doesnt improve performance but it does help either the s/c or t/c cool down faster, the release of pressure (usually at a shift point) helps alleviate the s/c or turbo so its not CONSTANTLY heated (constantly blowing that is). It just forces excess air outwards to release pressure, the basic jist. Plus it makes a cool sound! I want to get a BOV if I decide on getting PSI-FI's twincharging kit.

I know RSMRACING has BOVs for superchargers but i dont think they are using a roots type supercharger.

I looked on their site a while back (rsmracing.com) and saw tonnes of BOV

but again, not sure about the M62

ummmmmmmmm.... A wastegate is an exhaust bypass in a turbo system to limit the pressure produced. Since a S/C is belt driven, there is no way of doing this (for the most part). A BOV is used to prevent a spike in pressure when the throttle is snapped shut. If one is not used, AND the pressure device (turbo OR S/C) is BEFORE the throttle blades, snapping the throttle closed will cause a pressure surge that can damage the pressure device. A BOV is used to release that pressure spike...

Thats called a diverter valve and is used instead of a BOV

Very good! It is used on engines with MAF sensors, so that the computer doesn't think the air went in, when it actually didn't...
