Supercharging 2.2 Questions
Hey guys, I'm getting real serious about putting a TVS on my L61. As of now all I have is the vibrant 2.5 header/d pipe combo, dc sport exhaust and 2.4L TB. now I know the internals won't hold up too well with this charger, but what kind of parts should I get without going overboard. My thoughts are
pistons (which compression?)
valves
possibly springs
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Rods, Rods are the weakest thing there. Plus you will need all new gaskets and seals. So rods pistons, head gasket, head studs, crank seals, main seals. The head work isn't necessary but if you do that you need valves, retainers, springs, all that fun stuff.
if anything do springs + retainers and nothing more. you do not need valves especially on an unported head. and I would suggest lower compression pistons with the tvs unless youll run into serious knock issues. you will also need cooling upgrades with a tvs
I would get springs. When i took my motor out to put the new rods and pistons in one of my stock springs had fallen off and i didn't even know. I must have had some valve float but with my 78 # valve springs i've pulled the valve cover off and there still on there now. For a supercharger I would keep the stock compression and you need all the gaskets and seals and you can't re use the head bolts.

Get rods and pistons and you'll be fine. ARP headstuds would be good too because they can be reused. You don't need to replace any part of the valvetrain unless you are planning to rev past 7500 rpms. You won't be pushing high levels of boost like a turbo that could cause problems with the springs
i'm not saying don't get pistons i said get stock compression for a blower. the lower the compression, the more boost you have to run to make the same power as high compression with low boost if that makes sense lol.
