Turbo Charging a 2.2L

Hey guys kinda new to the whole cobalt world and the ecotecs. i just bought a 2.2l engine for 200.00 bucks and want to turbo it then drop it into my cobalt when i get one. what kind of stuff should i look at replacing and where do i find parts for one. also what do they call this engine ?

so you haven't bought a cobalt yet? how do you know if you won't buy a used ss/supercharged cobalt? that model comes with a much better engine no matter how used it is.

What year is it? 09+ is LAP and below is L61

07+ means you have Gen2 block good for 400+ HP. Get some rods and pistons and your good to go.

i bought the engine. im in the auto body industry and get deals on cars that are always smashed up so im going to buy the car that has front end damage. the engine is from a 2006 coblat lt. so that would make it?

you have a gen1 block. won't handle as much. if you plan on a turbo set up, you won't be able to boost it much without the block going...

that's cool. to each his own i guess. still, if deals tend to go your way as frequently as you say, then you should have no problem coming across lsj's (2.0l ss/supercharged) or lnf's (2.0l ss/turbocharged) that have front end damage. Those engines are really the ones you want to look for. They come with everything forged, minus the pistons, so they can deal with quite a bit of power with very little effort.
