What is Full boost potential

I just picked up my brand new Cobalt SS two nights ago, and have been getting on it somewhat hard, But the first night I test drove it, noticed that I hit the revlimiter before I even came close to redline, I was hitting the limiter at like 6100 is that normal, Also so far the max PSI I have pulled out is a 10.5 is that normal as well?

Holy overdriving your new car...you're supposed to break it in nicely not drive the **** outta it right away . As for the rev limited I have no clue, but people have been mentioning they're not achieving the maximum 12.5 that the S/C can put out. The S/C like any other part requires some break-in but it could also have to do with environmental factors such as the humidity, altitude etc.

These are my initial observations from reading the forums and I have the LS not the SS so I'm not sure but I know some people have been reaching maximum boost. There's a large number of posts on this if you do a search...you're not the only one .

Expect to put on about 1,400 miles on the car before you hit 12psi. I don't know why this occurs, but with most people once they hit a magic number they are hitting full boost.

As bizarre as it may seem maybe GM programmed something into the chip to withold the extra boost until they considered the engine "broken in". This wouldn't be something impossible to do and could have been put on as a feature to save the engine for the first few thousand miles so to speak. It could also be using existing information such as driving habits, etc. that the system already uses to calculate oil life, etc. Just a hunch but seems viable enough to me anyways .

yea when i first got it it felt somewhat slow and sluggish due to breaking it in, now the boost just kicks in and its smooth, i have 3k on myne. i see about 12ish, and im in florida-home of the 100 degree temps i see almost every afternoon, im waiting to see how it will react in december
