have you seen the picture of the install? It's out of sight - just makes it so that if your head hits the side beam, it wont pop like a watermellon

rather
I'd rather they give me a new $500 motorcycle helmet for head protection and $1000 cash to cover the devaluation of the car, since it can't pass federal crash safety standards. Putting some foam under the headliner what a joke.

Just realized what you wrote -- if no one is sitting in the passenger seat then the passenger air bag does not go off.
I haven't seen any more on this recall either and it appears to address '05 and early '06 Cobalts. I can't figure out why it would be needed -- is it for the back seat area maybe?

Got my letter yesterday
I got my recall letter yesterday, and I contacted the dealership today.I told him that I also have some quality problems with my door panels. The chrome is peeling off the pull handle on the driver's side, and the cloth is separating from the panel in a bubble just above the power switch bezel. He told me that GM hadn't sent the parts, and he would order it (them) and call me when they arrive. He told me he would also take care of the door panel problems when they did the recall work. If i have under 36ooo miles , do i get a loaner car while the work is being done?

General Motors is recalling over 98,000 vehicles in an effort to upgrade head impact protection. The recall effects 2005 and 2006 models of their Chevrolet Cobalt Sedans. GM officials say they need to upgrade the models that aren't already equipped with the optional roof-mounted side-impact airbags. Owners with concerns can call Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438.

I just got my done. Didnt notice any change in the headliner it self, all I understood it was is a piece of foam that they glue next to the sunroof.

Here's the skinny on the recall. I got my letter, and called GM, just like RBC and got the same response. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE!! So I went on line, put in the specific recall number, and (you probably guessed it) there was no posted recall yet for that number! I then called the dealership spoke for 5 minutes to a very quite service manager (do I need to say it again) NEVER HEARD OF THE RECALL!!. Got a call to bring it in the the rebber insert that basically covers the sharp corner on your visor arm. So... took the car down and dropped it off, (anybody who doesn't know where this is going, put the pipe down) I got a call later that day and THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS!!! I am supposed to bring it back Monday and have been assured they are now in stock...That's the SKINNY ACCORDING TO VITAMINC...

I honestly cant even tell they did any work on it. But I know they did cause I filled out paper work for the work. But when I push up under the visors i feel like strofoam crushing, and I couldnt feel it anywhere else but there.

SUBJECT: Engine Fuel Injectors - Replace
MODELS: 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
2006 Pontiac Pursuit
Equipped with 2.2L 4 Cylinder (RPO L61 VIN F) Engine
CONDITION
General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2006
Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit model vehicles, equipped with a 2.2L 4 cylinder (RPO
L61 VIN F) engine. Very small cracks may develop inside the fuel injectors. A crack could
allow fuel to seep through into the injector connector pocket, resulting in a fuel odor. If the
wiring connector becomes separated from the injector, resulting in an open injector circuit,
symptoms could include engine misfire, illumination of the check engine light, and a fuel odor.
CORRECTION
Dealers are to replace all four engine fuel injectors.
VEHICLES INVOLVED
Involved are certain 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit model vehicles equipped with a 2.2L 4 cylinder (RPO L61 VIN F) engine and built within these VIN breakpoints:
YEAR DIVISION MODEL FROM THROUGH(last 8 digits of your VIN)
2006 Chevrolet Cobalt 67633125 67802839
2006 Pontiac Pursuit 67687448 67802833

Have not logged in for awhile, but my dealer told me about the recall a long time ago. I was replacing the lower grille because of road debris (at parts desk), and service advisor was standing there and asked if I wanted to leave it. "Sure why not, and can you fix the trim ring on the sunroof switch too?" was my reply. Well, they decided that the busted sunroof trim ring required a whole new headliner which they ordered. No problem, new headliner, cool somehow managed to f'up the other one with grease hands anyways. Well new liner comes in, they pull the car apart, and someone creases it, whatever, they call, "hey do you want to leave it, or have us put it back together?"
To this I said, "What do you mean, back together? Is it driveable like it is?"
Dealer "I guess, why?"
Me "I want to dynomat the interior, thats why."
Dealer "Oh, ok, well I have them get it drivable and you can pick it up."
Well drivable meant seatbelt bolt was put back in, all the trim pieces were out and I took it home, Dynomated the entire inside of the top and the pillars (A,B,&C and rear deck) and filled all the voids in the trim pieces with 3X foam (took some trimming after it cured to get them to fit again, but its tight). Then I took it back. So they did me a favor, cause I broke 2 star bits the last time I tried to pull the seatbelt bolts out to do the interior.
Needless to say, vibration is gone.......

i just got off the phone with circuit city as a iwas trying to pick up wire harness for aftermarket h/u and they said they could not sell me any harness for the cobalts as chevy is recalling all parts to change cd players as the airbags could deploy. any one know about this?he said that the radio is partially connected to the airbag sensors and they could deploy in drivers face or something like that. any info would help out, all i wanted was to put in a cd player lol.

force absorber
ok. i work for a gm dealership. when we do that recall we pull down the headliner and hot glue a plastic piece known as a force absorber near the front of the headliner right behind the a pillar. in accidents without this your head will hit metal instead of the force absorber.
