gas mileage problem?

Ok i drive rather spirited and i like going fast but should i be getting like 25-26 miles per gallon? like i try to increase my gas mileage but every now and then ill do 120 in 4th gear and i just cant get above 26 is this average or should **** get checked out? also since we are suppose to switch gears around 3k how are we suppose to get good gas mileage or are we just stuck with 26?

I drive far less aggressive then most others, and on daily driving shift around 3k and I get between 27-30 so yeah...thats about right.

in my old OS LS that was fully bolted and tuned I never average below 29 so you are stomping on it.

More info dude. 26 mpg with mixed city and highway is not bad. I do mostly city driving with short trips in stop and go traffic and rarely see higher than 21-22 mpg. But on all highway trips, I'll see 29-31 mpg.

Ok i dont have a supercharger i have the 2.4 07 5 speed mani with an unmodded engine so far anyway. and 4th gear at 120 is because i can only get maybe 110 in 5th gear idk if this is just a problem with me or what it just wont go higher. i drive mostly city driving but i do make a 20 min trip 2 times a week all highway.

I have a 2.4.. i drive spirited every once in awhile.. i avg 28 in the city.

as for the 120 in 4th gear.. thats basically running redline in our cars..
5th gear wont pull unless you're on a big hill.

next tank use slow acceleration and keep the boost to over 10 inches of mercury (well, I guess you could say lower, higher numbers, lower gauge swing)

I did this and took my mileage from 25.5 to 34.1

my bad, just saw you don't have an SC

leaving that up there for anyone else ^

With highway and inner city my 2.2 automatic 2 door LS is getting 29.2 avg MPG.

All highway is 37MPG.

Spirited driving gets me down to 28.5MPG.

My brother's 4 door 2.2 automatic LT is getting 28.8MPG, and he is a lead foot.
He has the SAI set-up, not sure if that helps MPG.
It makes no sense to me as I take care of my car more than he does his.
He's always getting oil changes at 4k and me at 3k, and I am always keeping my tires at 30psi whereas I don't think he has ever been to the tire pump.

I usually get about 27 and I've gotten as high as 31 a few times. My drive to work is about 15 miles at about 60 mph with only 4 lights.

^^ is about right. i have an 07 sc. i drive very, very hard. just about every 1-2 and 2-3 shift is at 4k. i punch it onto every highway, i take off quick every chance i get, i love my car. i reset my mpg guage every refill and compare it to my readings of gas used to fill up vs. miles traveled. the computer is never off more than 1/10th, and i average 26.4mpg. I'm stock except for an airbox mod K&N filter.

it's simple people... drive harder, and ya use more gas. this hypermilling section of the forum is quite lame im jk. do what ya gotta do to save $$ right?
