If you are getting more soot with 93 that just means the pcm is adding more fuel, which is making more power, which is kind of the whole point of the tc, no?

You may not be able to hear it but your motor will be knocking on 87. Sustained knock has all kinds of wonderful effects including holed pistons and shattered ring lands, bad **** if you ask me.

If you really want to run 87 get a 2.2, they love that stuff.
You better listen to this guy or your an idiot. Some 93 octane isn't even really 93 octane did you know that people??? If you get premium at Arco to be a cheap ass because premium is fifty cents cheaper than 87 at a normal gas station then your an idiot. I had a friend have to put Arco in his tank and he was extremely pissed off because it was Arco but thought since it was premium it would be okay. He has the same cobalt SS/SC with mods and the second he put ten bucks worth of ARCO in his tank and started the car you could hear a HORRIBLE knock even though it still said 93 octane. I know of this specialty gas station thats pretty far away from me that actually sells credable 95 octane and it is the best stuff by far you could ever put in your tank. If you drive an SS and use less than 93 octane your really not very smart at all being a cheap ass like that. Sure your car isn't a Ferrari but the concept is the same if it needs high octane it needs high octane or your gonna ruine your car.

yes, it's fine, but if you have the opportunity to use 93 then do so.

they come from US? BP = british petroleum. They get their crude oil from the middle east, then refine it in LA... Sunoco gets most of their oil from venezuela, none from the middle east.

" British Petroleum, which traces its origin to 1901, was already known informally as BP when it made its most notable entry into the North American oil business as a pioneer explorer in Alaska during the late 1950s. "

no big deal, just correcting info. BP is a somewhat sketchy company. I've read a lot of strange things about stuff that has gone on within that business. I usually just get my gas from wherever is close. Everywhere around her has at least 93 and there is a, I think speedway, but i'm not sure on woodward that has 100 unleaded.

Yes and No. Not okay in my book. If you do any mods definately not okay in my book. I have a SS/SC with stage 2 and it says right in the GM catalog that the stage kits require 93 or above. If your TC is stock then read the manual and see what it says. If your not stock I can guarantee you need to be running 93. Especially if you get the new GM stage kit for your car. GUARANTEED!

Clovis New Mexico huh...... I have a Clovis indian arrowhead from there. These are the worlds oldest artifacts traced back to the first people we know of. I got lucky and inheireted it from my Grandpa. I want to sell it cause I know a museum will pay me a fortune but I told Grandpa I wouldn't. Oh well I have the oldest thing you can find from the first humans in perfect condition. I feel blessed.

Good ol' 87 for me.

I don't get the people with SS/TC asking about using 87. You paid all that money for great performance, why try to put it out with 87?

Cause there idiots dude and when it breaks and they take it to the mechanic and find out it was from using the wrong fuel they'll find out why you should not be a cheap ass when it comes to gas in your high performance vehicle.
