I hope that the service manual was incorrect. That would be a lot to take apart ! Are you 100% sure on this ?

double checked it, labor is like .7 of a hr, so i was close in saying ~40mins, of course it depends on the actual dealer and their techs to determine the actual lenght, but it shouldnt be a long process....and about the aftermarket tune, they shoudlnt reflash you, the bulletin says to check for DTC's, record any if there are on, and than clear them, no reflash included

Can you get the motor for free and install it yourself? I know a few peoples car who will not be taken to the dealer because the test drive will just turn into a serious beating on of the cars.

I agree. If the whole steering column has to be pulled out to do this (no matter how little time it takes), I will not have it done. If it does not have to be removed then sign me up.

From what I have read in previous years you had to pull out the column because it didn't come from gm any other way. but that has changed now.

Maybe that explains what the service manual says.

I'm confused. I thought I had this fixed already, but not according to the dates you have on here...I took my 08 SS/TC in on the 12th of March for the recall. They told me it was just a hose, that had to do with the powerstearing, that was being replaced. It sounds like I should call them back and see whats up.

If ur car falls within the breakpoint and u already had a motor replaced, they check the part #, if it's not the new updated one, they replace again...also when ur phased is released and you get the letter you can submit for reimbursement...

Considering these cars use electric power steering and there are no hoses, something is not right with that explaination.

It seems as though my 2009 Cobalt doesn't pop up in the dealership's records for this recall. So I'm good.

Got my letter Friday, got my car fixed yesterday ... steering is back FINALLY ... feels a bit more solid than a remember with less play in wheel kinda how no power steering felt when driving straight. The turns are back to being a dream I always like the ease of the turn with the electric power steering it just felt right. In all it took about 3 hours before I got my car back and now I can't wait to take her for a spin, damn 10 hour work days are cuttin my chances.
