19169207 seatbelt tensioner sensor
I have read posts about how badly these were designed in that the wires get worn frayed or cut by its bad design.
I recently fell victim to this design.
Basically my red wire had a bad connection.
I know this because my mechanic found out why my check airbag code was getting tripped.
The signal was intermittent, not constant.
But the mechanic cut the wire.......
Now it's on 100% of the time.
I used a match to burn the insulator off the one side of the wire that goes to the carpet and exposed the wire itself.
I then tried to do the same on the sensor side.
Guess what? There was no wire at all it was 100% insulator.
So somebody yanked the rest of the wire out of the sensor while looking for the problem.
So my question is now that the wire has been yanked the out of the sensor, has anybody been able to take the sensor off, open it up and silver solder a wire onto wherever it's supposed to connect?
It looks like a little black square box that could be opened. But I don't want to sit there with screwdrivers and pry bars break the thing and then I have no seatbelt at all.
Maybe another shop can just fix it. What say you?

I forgot to mention that when the mechanic gave the diagnostic, the shop tells me that Chevy no longer has this part. It's a pretty pathetic situation I'm pretty angry about it.

Any luck here? I had it happen to me in 2021 and was able to buy a new seatbelt assembly but happened to me again now. I cannot find it but still looking.
I did crack open the casing at the bottom of the seatbelt the first time it happened to me and the wires and connections were very small. With the right skills, should be able to solder them. When I had installed the new seatbelt in 2021, the airbag light went away, didn't have to reset anything. I had a torn red wire.
