True but I find that on my avic d1 (given mine is older) it is more accurate with the speed pulse wire. I had problems where in some areas it would get confused before I had the speed pulse connected. Its really not hard to do all I did is take apart the spedometer cluster and got the speed wire there which I believe was a green wire with a white stripe.

the way to bypass is..u have to install a switch on the ebrake wire. one hooks on to the wire and the other goes to ground. also there is a open whole in the radio harness. insert a ground wire in there and...boom bypassed. i think this works with the d2. i know it does for the d1. its really the same thing...u mite not have to put a switch on the ebrake wire...just ground thoe 2 things mite just do the job.

Yeah on the d1 all you have to do is ground the ebrake wire. I would assume the d2 is the same.

well i've taken my grand am apart about 50x, and it was easy, the thing i dont wanna do is have it loose when its back in, when i took the dash trim panels off to install my deck, i put them back on and they were a lil loose, i wanna get them factory tight again cause it pisses me off :| no one notices but me, but even then, if i notice it and dont like it that way, i wanna fix it, any ideas anyone?

I had a 2004 Grand Am GT1 coupe before my Cobalt SS/SC and its just as easy as the Grand Am. New clips will fix the issue of the pieces being loose.
