2.0 please help

I am very new to this site I was wondering if anyone know if it is possible to use a 2.2 or 2.4 block with a 2.0 cylinder head. I have a 2.0 p motor that has a rod knock but a good cylinder head and new timing gears. the year is 06

Avoid using the L61 block with your LSJ head. The rotating assembly and oil system are not remotely the same. Bolt up they will, work well they will not.

As for the 2.4 LE5 block, I don't know.

Just get a new LSJ. Throw forged internals into it and make all the power you could want on the street.

No, the 2.2 and 2.4 do not have the correct compression ratio, crank throws, or strong enough
rods, pistons, or crank. you'll blow the engine within the first few times you boost. Plus it wont run correctly b/c the ecm isn't calibrated for the displacement
or compression ratio.

your best bet if your mechanically inclined is to get a forged crank, rods, pistons, a fresh set of bearings and rings and then pulley down.

Lol, this topic has nothing to do with "strong enough" A 2.4L can handle quite a bit of boost.

But overall this about simplicity. Stick with the LSJ lower end. Just upgrade it

Yes the 2.0/Lsj head will bolt on and work on a 2.2 or 2.4 block just fine. The issues is the reluctor wheel for timing. Needs to be change to match the 2.0 PCM signal, which has been done several times here and plenty of car running either those combos with forged internals.

Going to a stock 2.2/2.4 is a weaker motor and can't be pushed hard for risk of breaking.

Suggestion to you would be either install forged rods and pistons in either 2.2/2.4 you get and mod the reluctor ring accordingly, or buy another used lsj/2.0 bottom end from Monograt and install that and be happy. He sells them reasonable price.
