2.2l lap going though coolant

anyone ever see a 2.2l lap with a cracked block like the lnf is known for? got my bosses kids car in the shop (2009 hhr 2.2l lap with m62) and its a little low on coolant and has a bit of condensation under the oil cap. its only got 113k km on it, doubting its head gasket and it doesnt have an oil cooler. im unsure if its even coolant in the oil, it doesnt get driven very far to work (5 minutes) so it may just be condensation.

so, thoughts on a cracked block?

I think it might be possible. If the coolant was drained or refilled it could have been a nasty trapped air bubble.

I'd add some UV dye and track it down from that, assuming there hasnt been other UV dye leaking into the engine bay.

It's possible, but this would be my first bet. That's actually pretty terrible for a car.

If you don't see anything obvious on the dipstick, then I'd doubt there's an internal leak. It's usually pretty obvious on the dipstick.

its condensation for sure. it was low on coolant (hhr doesnt have a pressurised surge tank, so hard to see at a glance) but it only took about a cup. he hasnt added any coolant either. with the average speed on the dic showing 21 km/h, and it being driven a total of 10 minutes a day, im fairly confident its just condensation.

now that thats solved, has anyone actually seen or heard of an ecotec other than the lnf with the cracked block problem? i cant say ive ever run across anyone talking about it.

I cracked the water jacket in an early '07 2.2 gen 2 block. And Slobalt69 had "porus" block issues with le5's
