2.4 to 2.0 Switch

Well sorry 2.4 guys but I am trading it in for a 06 Sunburst Orange SS/SC w/G85 and all other options. With my down payment it is only another 30 dollars a month. Then I till toss Stage 2 on there and I should be happy.

I just put my reserve money on it so they won't sell it and will be picking it up later this month or early May when the rest of my down payment cash comes in. I figured for just 30 dollars more a month it would be stupid not too. Better trans, suspension, engine already built for F/I. Plus it seems like all the aftermarket from GM and everyone else is being aimed at the 2.0.

I didnt know to post this in the 2.0 or 2.4 section so I put it here, lol. I will definately take pics and keep everyone updated when I get it. Now I gotta return my 2.4 to stock and sell off the intake and short throw.

How much for the intake?

Also, how much of a hit are you going to take by trading in the 2.4?

I owed 17500 I believe on my 2.4. The guy gave me a pretty good deal he said on my 2.4. He is giving me 15000 I think. I am also putting 7500 down. I realize I am losing and wasting a good amount of cash but I don't want to pay monthly for something that I am not completely satisfied with.

As far as the intake, I will take it out probably tomorrow and throw it up on here for someone to buy if they want. Its the Injen, black. Probably like $120 shipped.

I am -2500. It should have been more but the guy was cool and gave my car a higher value. I should have mentioned both are SmartBuy. Paying the end balloon payment it four years isn't a problem for me.

Now I just wait... Gonna be hard.

If you're paying that much for a car, you deserve to be happy with it.

The price diff between the SS and the SS/SC , or hell even a fully loaded LT coupe is so little ....why not get the SS/SC to begin with . SS/SC=incredible deal since GM lowered the MSRP's permanatly .

I agree. I would love to have the SS/SC but I cant afford to buy winter tires for it. I know there not much but, I think I'll wait and see what the market is going to do.

You never know in 3 years when I can trade in early there might be something MUCH better out there (new camaro??)

Yeah, I took a hit on mine as well, but I dont regret a second of it.
I basically decided that if i have to be in a car for 5 years, it might as well be one I am happy with.

Congrats on making the switch man!

The SS 2.4 is like 3k cheaper. That translates into much lower monthly payments and a lot of people can't afford what an extra 3k does to the monthly payment. Plus there is the insurance aspect of this.

A funny story I forgot to add was when I came up in my car, they said for them to take my car they would have to take the SS badges off.I ask why? They said they obviously cant sell a fake car. I was like, WTF this is an SS. They thought I had a base with SS badges. After starring at my car in confusion, they finally popped my hood and starred at the engine. They were still confused. So they opened the hood on the SS/SC on the lot and I could hear them out side yelling, "Are they the same engine?". During all this I was inside just watching and laughing to myself thinking, idiots. By this time there were 7 people outside from just the original 2 guys. They were all starring at my car with their hands on their chins in curiousity. I was laughing out loud now.

I finally went outside and said is there a problem? They are like, is this a base with SS badges? I said no, its an SS. Salesman said, then why are you trading it in for another SS, something wrong with this? I said no I want the supercharged model.

Now I know at this point that they have no idea what a 2.4 SS is so I am just toying with them playing dumb. When I said that he is like, but you just said this is an SS. I said yeah, the 2.4L version. He just said ok, still with a confused look on his face.

After inspecting my car, he noticed the TWM shifter and asked if this was an auto and if I put the 5sp in myself, I laughed and said no, its a stock tranny.

I assume after they ran the VIN they figured out what my car was. They thought that maybe I did an engine swap too since they never seen this VVT thing before. I just find how funny it is that a chevy dealer doesn't even keep up with the cars they are suppose to represent.

Sorry for the long story, just thought it was funny.

That's really funny. When I went to look at an SS S/C before I bought mine a salesman asked if he could help me. I said I was looking for the SS S/C.

He said "I don't think we have any of those right now"

I replied, "Well you are standing between a red one and a yellow one. There is also a black one behind me at the lot entrance."

Then I helped him and his manager find a blue one that had just come in from prep. I told him it was "the one" and asked to test drive it. He then walked me off the lot and said "Here is my card, come back when you are serious"

I came back the next week with his card and my SS S/C I bought else where the day before. Should have seen the look on his manager's face.

Yea, normally a dumb salesman like that would turn me off but its the only dealership that has the car I want. So I am putting up with it.
