Ok im in a corner. "new". . . . to me project car. slight front end damage and worst of all. . . . . automatic transmission. Im looking hard for some type of manual transmission swap but i so far havnt been able to source anything easily. Any suggestions as to where to find a transmission (and associated parts) or others that will work from other cars.

But wouldnt that be easily solved with an ecu swap. if you havnt noticed im very new into the cobalt/ecotec scene and im not comepletly sure but didnt the 2.4 come in a manual transmission model? (hangs head and sighs) and if not. . . . . . how difficult is the 2.0 supercharged swap?
I know this is going to sound strange but i feel like im already way to dedicated to this project to give it up. If it takes a motor swap than believe me im down (ive gotten quite use to it after owning five diffrent hondas). I do appreciate your honesty and that truely might be the right answer (although i dont do anything i have to finance, damn dave ramsey) but ive never given up on a project and definetly nevery this early on. Its going to be a stripped and gutted track day car so im not looking to get anything fancier. Actualy the dents make me feel better. So if there is any advice as to what im going to need to get the ball rolling on this project then please...... please, help a ecotec newbie out.

no not as easy as an ecu swap, i doubt any of the bolts and stuff will line up either or if it even fits properly. you can't even swap an SS tranny into an LS for manuals so I doubt you could make an auto a manual
Gonna have to be a motor swap. Like everybody else said, it's never been done (to our knowledge) because by the time you spend all the money making everything work, you could have bought a new SS/TC.
It isn't the ECU... its alot of the other stuff that causes issues. In order era vehicles, a trans swap isn't unheard of... but the shear amount of sensors in the Cobalt makes this swap very financially unfeasble. You would have to get a donor car that is a manual and swap out a large amount of the electronics. Although you could physically put the F23 into the cobalt, tricking the existing computers to ignore the lack of input to the TCM is very difficult. In other words, the balt will go into limp mode because it thinks you don't have a trans.

Its def not a horsepower thing, its a heel toe; double clutch; loving to drive my car kinda thing. From the looks of it im either going to have to be a pioneer (totally worth the financial burden) or just get the car in good working order and have a good looking DD. Im thinking the DD route is the path im going to take though cause i need a car bad to finish up my HPDE licensing. Thanks for all of your help gentlemen.

The short answer is no. The best thing to do is either put a turbo on your 2.4 or m62 supercharger from the cobalt ss/sc. Many people on here have successfully done it and you can even buy kits from zzperformance.com . And honestly these cars are very cheap now so if you can find an 07 2.2 or 06-07 2.4 manual cobalt you are much better off and then either build the motor with forged internals for high boost or leave the motor stock and do low boost of 5-6 psi or stock m62 pulley and you'll be over 200whp safely. Unfortunately anything over 250whp on either of those stock engines and they will not last that long without a proper rebuild with the stronger internals.
