How does everyone else feel about the ride quality of their SS? I mean like the car but hate the ride quality and CT's roads suck. What other cars out there in the same class have stiff rides like ours, just so i feel better about what I have.

 

Put some 16's on there if you want a smoother ride. I'm content riding on the factory 18's, I actually think the car has a very smooth ride for what it is.

i admit it is alot stiffer and rougher ride than my 07 G6 GTP and it had 18s on it too, but i love takin corners fast...

 

oh yea don't get me wrong, the handling is sweet n everything but i think it could be a lil better. roads in CT are known for their obnoxiously terrible roads. ha oh and i forgot to mention i have lower profile tires than stock. 225/40 falken azenis rt-615s

 

The profile isn't that lower than stock, really.

215*.45=96.75
225*.40=90

Not enough to notice a difference in ride quality.

 

how do u like ur 225/40"s i got them in nankangs and rid alot better than the stock pirellis

 

eh, well then its the roads

i like them alot, and they're pretty sticky

 

performance oriented sport compacts like the cobalt ss/sc, srt4, mazdaspeed 3, ect tend to have a stiffer ride just due to the intended use of the car. they arent meant to be a caddy, they are meant to perform.

if you want it to ride better get some 16" rims with some 225/55r16 tires. itll improve the ride, but you will hate the way it handles.

 

do what i did, bag it and put 20s on it

 

i'll deal with the stiffness. i got 16s for the winter time.

Maybe it's a bit different with the 18's but I felt the redline with the 17's was too springy...could be the tires as well you guys get pzero neros right? Ride quality with any zr tire is not going to be noiseless but that's the point; trade sound for performance.

nah making it stiffer will only make it worse for him. How bad are the roads in connecticut? You'd figure with the newyork scratch coming in they'd be better but then again there's jersey roads...ouch.

back roads and highways are ridiculous. highways especially, going south down the shoreline
