in a 2.2/2.4 you'll get sticker gas milage with low end gas...but if you use 93, you can see upwards of 40.

I personaly got 43mpg when driving from IL to CA.

Octane has nothing to do with gas mileage nor is a measure of quality of gasoline.

I don't see how everyone gets 40-45mpg. Do you actually measure your own mpg when filling op or just go by what the DIC says? Since I always find it to be 2-3mpg off from what I actually get at fill ups on my 07 SS/SC.

We all have to remember that the window sticker MPG is an AVERAGE. If you look under the big number it will show a range like 32-42(those are just random numbers) indicating that the vehicle is capable of getting more or less mileage than the big, bold number everyone sees.

so how many miles does everyone get in a quarter tank? I have a 07 2LT with the 2.2 and I only get like 64 miles for a quarter tank.

On a trip from Denver to Salt Lake my wife was following me in her SS/NA. I was driving the SS/SC. I saw as high as 36 and she said she saw 38. Not bad for the LE5 and LSJ. Gotta love cruise control.

Also, the 5 speed LS and 1LT Cobalts may see 36mpg, but the auto Civics see it too. However, teh manual Civics are worse in fuel economy. Glad to see that the Cobalt is getting better mpg than the little Fit too.

Hrm my balt gets 20 mpg city ... thats after i got it tuned mind you. Before the tune i got 18 mpg city. Pre tune express way was +- 26 mpg. If i try my damndest to get the best econ possable i get 21-22 mpg city but i mean letting gravity pull me down hills, slow acceleration fun factor 0 driving.

I have a 2.2 and can get over 35 easily on highway, sometimes more.

but my average through the week is between 30 and 31 with city and highway.

I'm not sure we can trust the DIC either.

Cool Tail winds and down hill

I've gotten 33 MPG with my 2007 2.4L with Auto trans.... but that was with some major tail wind on most of the 125 mile interstate trip. recently its been averaging 30 MPG at interstate speeds, up and down the glacial morrains and river bluffs of central and northern Illinois on three separate 250 mile round trips

And the "conditions" are the biggest factor less any drafting.... uphill grades and headwinds will reduce gas mileage while downhill and tailwind will improve gas mileage. Plus cooler temps with high relative humidity will increase mileage.

Well most people that add a CAI get a tiny bit of horsepower and better MPG because the engine breathes more air in since it's cooler.

So that's not really true.
