accidently kissed the curb

Was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to possibly buff some scrape/scuff marks out of my alloy wheels? Was parking tonight and accidently scraped the side of my front wheel against the curb.. Was wondering if there was any special technique or grit of sandpaper that may work best? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Really fine grit sand paper,
Then even finer grit sand paper,
Then Micromesh kit,
and then crocas Cloth,
then polish.

At least thats how I polished the
scratches out of plastic windows
and aluminum propellers. Should
work on wheels too. Make sure
to get them re-balanced afterwards.

how bad is it? my rims had a tiny bit of curb rash on them and by using compound and cleaner wax i was able to buff a decent ammount of them out... i would try that before using sand paper, if they dont come out then, then i would try that

Did the curb chew into the aluminum or just scratch is? if it chewed into it, grab a file and start smoothing it out. Once you take the bumps out and get it really smooth. Wetsand with 400 grit, then 800, then 1000, then 2000, and then finally polish.

I got it pretty good, and it looks like it actually dug into the aluminum. The curb was actually painted red so it took some of that paint with it. Ill try and get some pictures tomorrow.

looks like you'll have to do what tommyp suggested. You'll have a chunk of wheel missing but it will blend it better than that.

Ah dude... what a drag - that sucks. Looks like you left some rim on the curb. Sanding that out will be a bitch to say the least. Maybe it can be...???
