and still thinking about it. My daily driver is over 17 years old! (87 323) and I really don't want to spend more money on it--and the clutch is going
Went to the dealer to see if I would qaulify for finance/lease---and I was approved for whatever I wanted.
The dealer had no 06 2.4L SS cars--in fact I had to educate the salesman who knew nothing of that model
Otherwise a nice guy
GM discount doesn't apply to 06's so it was a moot point.
Took the car out for another drive (2.2L 5 speed)---sure is different from my car but I suppose I would adjust. Terrible blind spot on the 2 door coupe though!
If your picky like me--it sure is hard to get exactly what you want. Every car on the lot has that spoiler----I would pass and spend the $420 (CDN) on power locks, cruise or just lower the price.
Then try to find the colour you want, with the transmission and a/c (a/c is optional on base Cobalts in Canada)
I was think Granite blue or the sunburst orange. Not sure about arival blue---looks like its trying too hard---at least to me--on a base coupe.
Be nice if I coud get rims instead of wheel covers
Will likely pass for now and pay off a lineof credit that I owe---then I will likely get one.
But I will probably have to factory order it!

don't be sad----the reason arrival blue looks not so good to me (remeber I said ona base coupe) is the crappy wheelcovers you get---your car has a totally different look, a much better one.
You could step up to the LS and put the rim/tire upgrade on for something like $275. I did that on mine and it looks much better than the base does with the wheel covers and black rims. Of course, you might not be looking to spend the extra money to move up to the LS either but you might want to look into what features come standard on it as opposed to the base, it might have what you're looking for.

Avro,
It's great that you've already had a chance to test drive a Cobalt before your 323 becomes undriveable. Or, if it does give out, I hope you have something to drive in the meantime.
I was in a similar situation with my VW. It was at 128,000 mi., I didn't want to spend any more on it and it was making odd noises for a week. None of the local dealers had even received a manual transmissioned Cobalt of either 2 or 4 door yet. Long story shorter, I barely made it to a dealer near work one night. I test drove and bought a manual trans. coupe.
The problem was that they had me over a barrel, since my car wouldn't have made it home, I only got $2500 trade-in. Though I don't want to bash the Cobalt, it didn't live up to my expectations during the test drive and if I hadn't had the car trouble I wouldn't have bought it. In hindsight I should have driven to a repair shop and rented a car, but when I'm 50 miles from home and have car trouble, I don't think so clearly.
Good luck.

That sux for ya up there . The dealers around me are stocking all kinds of variations of the coupe . I wish the SS/SC came in Granite blue , that would be so hot with the ebony leather and red inserts .
Good luck on future Cobalt purchase . If your waiting , I'd just order one now then youd have it 6-8 weeks or so .

Maybe I might sell my Firebird and then I could get an SS. Hmm
I seen today a Red 06 SS/SC with the G85 package. No different in terms of car, just a different year.
One thing I noticed though.... the emissions paper on it jumped several notches meaning it pollutes more, not sure if they did something to the exhaust or what....
