Best Way to Stiffen Up Engine\Trans Mounts

I've been doing some research on this subject, and I'm not sure what is the best way to go.

I don't want my Cobalt to turn into a race car, since it is my daily driver, but I do want to get rid of wheel-hop and protect my drive-train from damage when I do launch it hard.

Anyone get good results with just Torque Dampers?

I'm also considering solid mounts. Can I install just a solid upper motor mount, and leave the other mounts stock? Would there be any problems with that, or do I have to replace all of the mounts?

Would this be a good balance between eliminating wheel hop and keeping the vibes to a minimum?

there was a guy/bot on here that had a bunch of threads about cheap ed drugs - you could try putting some of those in the tank.

Would it be fine to change out just one of them? At least temporarily? That way I can judge if I can live with the vibes or if I still need stiffer mounting?

I'm worried that if I eliminate the movement at one point, it will just increase at the others.

no man...if anything your will eliminate all movement...less chances of breaking stuff like your flex joint on the DP..and other things. and best of all no wheel hop

So it would be fine?

Sorry, I can't tell which part of my post is your 'no man' in response to.

You can always install just one mount. As long as you don't do hard launches, you'll be fine. Otherwise you'll apply more stress to whatever stock mounts you leave. I'd recommend getting all solid mounts on motor and trans. You'll have to deal with vibration for less time if you do em all at once.

Trust me, after you install them, you'll have tons of vibes that you'll want to back to stock. But after a while, they'll settle and will have minimal vibration. My car feels better now and absolutely no wheelhop. Daily driving will not be an issue. Hope this helps.

What do you think would be better for my situation?

OTTP Stage 1 Rotated Mounts

or

TurboTech Solid Upper Engine Mount

drop-n-destroy, you said that it wouldn't be best just to do one. Were you referring to doing just one of the 3 mounts I could upgrade, or doing just only one of either the upper/lower mounts?

Those who say the vibes break in and go away.. maybe a little.. but the truth is, you get used to them..

I just came back from poly to rubber mounts (gmpp anti-hop) and holy cow it's like driving a new car!

the torque dampener worked well for me, i'd recommend it. i kept it on the stock setting. minor idle vibrations when it was cold, barely noticeable after it warmed up, easy install. shifts become much smoother, never really had wheel hop.

i just got the stage 2 rotated mounts installed wednesday, and they vibrate more than the dampener. i still have the dampener on the car, just haven't gotten around to taking it off yet, so maybe that's causing a little more vibrations. but solid mounts are going to cause more vibrations. i think the dampener would be perfect for what you're looking for.

It's either just the motor mount alone, or BOTH tranny mounts. Just doing one tranny mount will cause even more stress to the other mount when doing hard launches.

You can get the torque damper for the motor so you can try it out. If you go solid mount, you'll have more vibrations. Then again, I heard the damper "wears out" overtime but that's ony if launching very often. Many people hear go solid after tryying the tq damper. You can proly find a used one on the for sale section

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

Hmmm, so now I know what my options are for doing this right. Just can't decide which way to go.
