Big guys?

Hello everyone!

I am going to a dealership tomorrow to purchase a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC. Here's my question. I sat in one at a car show about a year ago, and I thought I fit well (I actually never shut the door... shame on me). I am 6'4'' tall, so I have a fear I may not fit in this car. However, my current car is a 2003 Ford Mustang GT, and I seem to fit in that quite all right (with the seats ALL the way back ).

Any other very tall people on here (of know of a tall person) that owns a Cobalt? How's your experience with this?

Thanks for your help!

There are quite a few guys on this site that are 6'2 to 6'4 and I dont think they have a problem. For a small car it is surprisginly spacious. It took me some time since I was switching from an intrepid, but now i feel like I have plenty of room.

Welcome to the club and where in MA are you from?

Thanks for the prompt reply! I appreciate it!

I live in Sutton, MA. It's practically right on the Rhode Island border... slightly south of Worcester.

i am about 6'4, 200 pounds , and i have absolutly no problem driving the car, the only bad thing is when you stick four 6'4 guys in the car, than its a little tight

Haha. Yes, Slutton indeed. We have become notorious for that name .

I used to work at the Millbury Shoppes, actually... at Circuit City. I quit about a year and a half ago to go into home financing.

Nice to meet a fellow New England resident! A meet would definitely be great!

Haha. I could definitely see that! I tried fitting 4 people in my Mustang once... let's just say one was sitting with his legs kicking my shifter, and the other was pracitcally in the trunk .

Thanks again for everyone's replies!! It's good to know I'm not alone

Ya I am about 6'3" and around 240lbs and I fit no problems. I wouldn't sit in the back though if I was you.

Tons of room up front, but when you put your seat back, no one is sitting behind you. I myself am big, but more stout than tall, and sit comfortably in the car.

Has any one ever considered of swaping out the rear seats with the front seats so three people in front and 2 buckets in the rear

Funny this thread came up, I just discovered today that my seat goes up and down

**flame suit engaged**

It has pissed me off for some time that my hair would touch the fabric up top and I'm only five foot nine on a good day. I lowered the seat and my dome is a solid 6 inches off the roof now. Not only is the room better, I was shocked at what a difference it made in how much less the G forces throw me left and right during turning when I'm lower in the cabin now. The car actually handles better because I'm big enough that my body being lower also makes the center of gravity slightly lower overall.

Thanks again for everyone's help. Today, I just sold the Mustang and bought the yellow 06 SS/SC I was looking at. Fun drive! I posted an introduction thread here:

ermm i'm 6"3, have my seat all the way down and my hair does touch the fabric which annoys me..... i have to tilt the seat back to get my head slightly lower.... not really a big deal, but doesn't give me much choice for seat positions :P i have to sit low rider style :p lol

I don't think that you will have any trouble fitting. Just remember to adjust your seat down and back all the way. I am 6'4 and i fit better in my cobalt than in my z28.

Hey there, neighbor! I drive through Worcester daily to get to work . I used to work in Worcester, until I got moved to Auburn.

Already bought the Balt... I bought it at Liberty Chevrolet in Wakefield. They were very helpful, and gave me a great deal on the car and the trade in.

Where did you buy yours at?

Nice to meet you! Maybe I will see you around sometime! Just look for the really, really tall kid missing gears in a yellow SC Balt .

I'm 6'6 and about 295 pounds and I think the Cobalt has plenty of room for me. Although, it's hilarious whenever I step out of the car because everyone always says "How in the hell did you fit into that thing???"

Hell, it's got a lot more driver space than a lot of midsize SUV's out there. My fiance's son has a Jeep Liberty that makes me feel like the steering wheel's going to cut my legs off and when I get into the 'Balt after that, I almost want to go camping in my Cobalt because I've got so much room!

Ah... Diamond. By father bought his Cadillac Escalade from Diamond Caddy/Buick/GMC in Auburn. Let's just say it was probably as much of a nightmare as you probably went through.

Ladies love them... haha . In Worcester, I usually see most ladies driving around in their own fart-can mobiles . But we will see if you are right

I will definitely keep in touch. Thank you for the warm welcome!
