Big Problem

I Was At The Bank Today And My Car Just Would Not Start. I Have Not Had Any Problem Like This Yet So It Is Really Weird. I Drove To The Bank While On My Way The Check Engine Light Came On, While At The Bank Nothing Seemed To Be Wrong. When I Was Getting In And Ready To Leave The Car Just Would Not Start. Cranked Just Fine And Nothing. I Have A Ss And Only 700 Miles. Called Gm And They Took It To The Dealership For Me They Are Really Helpful. I Will Keep All Info Coming In On The Problem. Service Dept Was Closed For The Day So It Will Be Tomorrow Before It Gets Looked At. If Anybody Else Has Had This Problem Just Reply.

This sounds a lot like the loose wire that trips the security system and will not allow the car to start...I just can't remember exactly what post I saw this under yesterday. Anyways, good luck with it.

I have 3800 miles on my Cobalt and just got it out of the shop for the 7th time.

1st time in March was because the AC was overcharged at the factory. They fixed that in no time.

2nd time in May. The check engine light was coming on and my stereo system was reading "LOCKED" supposedly because of the anti theft system that I don't have on my car. They installed wiring jumper at coolant fan & replaced the presser switch. Also replaced radio.

3rd time in May. There was a recall for the A/C wiring and air bag.

4th time in June. Radio reading "LOCKED" again. Steering wheel was making a noise when I turned to the left. Car was hesitating when I pulled out in traffic. Intermittant problems so they couldn't find anything. They did re-program the radio.

5th time in July. My car flooded on the driver's side and the A/C was pouring water into the passenger side. Turns out the evaporator pan had split at the seam and they had to re-seal that. My brake light kept flashing on while driving down the road. They couldn't duplicate that problem so couldn't do anything.

6th time in July. Radio now reading "ERR". So they replaced it again. Water still leaking into the car so they had to re-seal the roof ditch molding.

7th time in July. Radio reading "ERR" again. Replaced radio AGAIN!!!! Brake light still coming on while driving. They said it was caused by internal software problem w/programing ti I.C.P. Whatever that is. So they reprogramed that.

I have now had it out of the shop for 12 hours and just biding my time until the next thing goes wrong. In Florida, if your new car is in the shop 15 cumulative days you can start the Lemon Law process. Yesterday was day 16. My paperwork is filled out and ready to be mailed. Just waiting for the next thing to happen. Which will probably today or tomorrow.

Holy hell dude, I don't even think GM is going to bother arguing this they'll just give you a new car. If #5 doesn't convince them I don't know what will. As far as the e-brake light goes I've had that problem on my LS as well but it's so damned irratic I cant take the car in and say "look it's flashing" I'm just ignoring it and putting up with it. It had appeared to have stopped for a while but seems to be back at it again. As long as I don't start pulling donuts while driving down the street because of it I'm just going to keep putting up with it.

Anyways, good luck with the proceedings, I'm sure GM isn't going to put up any sort of argument.

Have them check the I.C.P. (whatever that is). Supposedly there is a bulliten out on it and is covered under the warranty. I've had the car back for 24 hours and my brake light hasn't come on, yet.

I hope you are right about GM not arguing with me. But I sure don't want another Chevy! I paid cash for my car and I want my money back. I'm not rich....far from it. But my Grandmother died and left me enough money to buy a brand new car. I was hoping to get a new car that would last me for years with no problems. The girl I sold my '88 Toyota Corolla to is still driving around town w/no problems!!!!!! It would seem like a miracle if I could go just two weeks with no problems! I'll keep you posted.

After replacing it twice and reprogramming it once they finally gave me the uplevel radio. They tried to tell me that it was the uplevel radio the last time they replaced it. Like it wasn't obvious that it was the same model. I told the guy at the "service center" that it was the same radio and he denied that saying that it was an upgraded radio. It wasn't the first time I caught him lying to me.

Their lying to me has made the experience that much worse. They treat me like I'm an idiot and can't read the invoices! The time that they re-programmed the radio he tried to tell me it was replaced and the invoice clearly said that they re-programmed it. When I called him on it he said that he has to rely on what the mechanic tells him. Even though I know he is the person who enters all the info on the computer.

I really want to be rid of the car. I don't trust it nor do I feel safe with it. I certainly don't want another Chevy. Especially since I would have to use the same dealership that I know is dishonest.

I knew it wouldn't be long!!! Got in the car the other day and the radio was DEAD!! No error message just dead. I restarted the car and it works again but having other problems, too. As I was driving down the road w/my foot steady on the gas pedal, the car started slowing down. For some reason it was losing power. I keep trying to tell the dealer that it has a major electrical problem but they refuse to listen. Even went so far as to tell me that they have checked the electrical system out. Which I find hard to believe since they continue to deny that that is the problem. Its in the shop for the 8th now and only has 4100 miles. Lemon Law has been filed. Waiting to hear from GM.

When I went to the dealer to get my sunroof fixed they check my codes and they said that I had a bad cam sensor, and I drove it for a week with out any problems until after they fixed it, cause the timing was screwed up. Before that I never had a problem with it starting up, my car kept throwing codes though.
