Took the car out for a good ride everything seems in order. To my surprise when I got home the OTTP Leading CABs were sitting at my door!
Complete CAB Set

Make sure you either grease the leading CAB really well or add a grease zerk

Just picked up a smaller grease gun and grease so I can do the zerk fittings on the endlinks and tie rod ends. The leading cabs are nice. The have a recessed area in the delrin bushing that hold grease and an o-ring on the end to keep out some of the dirt and water.

Just make sure there is enough, when I installed mine the first time I thought I had enough grease and then it started squeaking bad. Had to take them out and grease the ever living out of them.

You definitely should. Those and brake slider pins.

Again, you living in the desert is a big help there. Powell's first iteration of LCAB's were absolutely terrible for northern cars. Squeaked like crazy if you drove it in the winter and the salt would start pitting the components too.

Got the engine mount and the ZZP Intake in. Don't mind the dirty engine.... I really need to get in there and clean everything up. Pretty sure I need a new valve cover gasket. Also the wire looming started deteriorating so I replaced it with blue looming... Well that looming was cheap and trash. Now I gotta start replacing it again.... Any way sorry for rambling. Here are the pics.

A few things I think about these 2 parts after install.
OTTP Engine Mount
  • Install is really easy.
  • The part looks great on the car.
  • It should come with replacement hardware the same material as the mount.
  • OTTP should design the mount part that mounts between this mount and the engine it self.
ZZP 3.25" Fenderwell Intake
  • This thing is massive.
  • It looks great.
  • Install is pretty easy straight forward, but they should give a few pointers.
    • Keep the intake wrapped in the foam cover during install. I in wrapped mine and scratched a few spots during install.
    • Stay patient while trying to fit the upgraded rubber intaket tube to the turbo. It fits so tight it will never leak air.
    • Fit the intake into the Fenderwell area and install the MAF before fitting the main intake into the upgraded rubber tube.
    • ZZP should send a u channel seal to put over the hole the tube fits through because I cantcan see the tube rubbing on the edge of it in the future.
Overall I like the way it looks, we'll see in October if it's better then what I had. I'll also be returning once the rest of the car is done.

Looks good! Any fender mount CAI is a PITA to install. When I did it on my first fox body mustang way back in 01 it took 2 hours to get the filter on the backside of the mount. They look good for sure. Luckily with the charger all I had to do was do the Hellcat airbox mod. I got it for 75 bucks and it was easy to install. Lands you just as much HP as a aftermarket one.

Parts look really good bro. I am actually doing a complete suspension restoration of my 2007 Pontiac G5 GT Sedan this summer as well. I' am converting it to mostly FE5 suspension parts plus I added Powell rear sway bar and CABS. Also went with YYZ springs and all the various other bushings that are old and needed to be replaced over the years. For tires I went with Firestone Firehawks and I repainted my G5 GT rims. The plan is to have that all installed by the end of the month. After that I will be supercharging the car and I already have got a used supercharger from a 06 cobalt ss along with throttle body and intake manifold. It'll be a nice project once its all done. Good luck on your build brother.

Thanks.
I love the G5 GT sedans, especially with the G5 RK Sport hood. I wish they would have have done like G5 GXP.... With an LNF. I have though about getting the G5 GT front bumper grill and rk hood for mine. I really love the look. MDubs old white Sedan, I think Chris Bruce has it now had that hold looked amazing.

The rain hasn't fully started we got some slight drizzle. I was able to put on the window visors. Not sure how I like them yet.

always wondered how that wing would look on a SS sedan, yeah that hood would look great. Installing my rear lip and adding a hood would probably be my last mods for looks on the car

I always liked the wingless look, but it works with your car.

I have a rear lip about 75% ready for paint. I also have a spare rear bumper about 75% ready for paint. I think there is a rear lip on my parts car still too. I'll probably pass on finish my lip for now and opt for a hood

Yeah tks brotha. I got the redsport tint coat color. Bought my car new off the lot in Feb 07. I babied it for the most part so very little rust and low kms only 96000 kms. Yeah I love that hood by RK Sport. If I didn't live in Canada and shipping price wasn't soo damn expensive I would probably buy it lol. How many miles does your cobalt have and what year? Yes I always thought Pontiac should of done a GXP version especially since the G5 sedan looked very similar to the G8's of the time. I always wanted to build a mini G8 GXP based off the G5 platform. This is basically what i'm trying to achieve now by adding the M62 for the extra power and upgraded suspension parts. As you know brother these cars are always a work in progress lol. Look forward to seeing how the rest of your build goes.

I could probably paint it, but I have no experience with auto automotive paint. On the aircraft we use a single stage paint, and it's thicker. Hard to mess up. Plus I don't have the tools at home to do paint.

It's not difficult, it's all about the prep. If you're using spray cans, test with cardboard first to get your arm speed and distance down with 50% overlapping on your passthrough. The higher viscosity of the paint, the faster you move your arm.

I've been watching YouTube videos on painting lately. I'd like to do my whole GTI this winter - I rattle canned it 6 or 7 years ago... and it's getting rough. Think I might end up wrapping the Cobalt though. Who knows. I have ADD; I think of a new project/direction for a project every 3 days.

YouTube user "Paint Society" has been where I've watched the most.

Using cans:

Good, inexpensive gun (I have air compressor):

About 30 minutes with some purple power and detail brushes. It's not perfect but 10x better then it was. I pulled off most of crappy blue wire looms after cleaning. I still a have little bit more looming and tape to remove and some black looming to add back on, but it's tough between rain storms. My valve cover need to be repainted as well. It held up pretty good for 4 years with rattle can paint. I'll probably redo it when I do the timing.
