Bottomed out the Cobalt. Ftl.
So, tonight I was driving to a friends house and where he lives, there are some speed bumps. I honestly didn't think they were that high, but now that I'm lowered, I guess I never took it into perspective. I made it over the first two bumps, so I'm like - Okay, I guess it's fine. WRONG. I get to the last bump, front wheels get on the top of the bump, as soon as they come down, I hear a scraping of some sort. It couldn't have been the front fascia because I didn't hear the noise till the front wheels were on the way down. It's pouring out right now, and I'm not about to crawl under my car and **** and get soaked. I'm hoping someone can tell me, what is under the car, around the engine and transmission that hangs down at the lowest point. No it wasn't the oil pan, this I'm sure of, thank god.

there is actually a piece of plastic that hangs lower than your front lip. I am not lowered but I sometimes do hit a really low bump and I can hear it scrap. No worries
oops, i just saw that you dont have a ss so I dunno

Not necessarily and why do you think that because when you hit that bump your car went in the air and when you came down it came down harder which would result in the front scraping!

Guys, read his post! it was nothing on the front of his car! it was behind the front wheels. Meaning it was NOT the deflector or the oil pan.
It was most likely the exhaust. The exhaust is the lowest part of the car, especially with an aftermarket exhaust. That's how i killed my resonator on my corsa sport exhaust.

i have an LS and its lowered on the sportlines, the thing i always hit is my exhaust, you can tell when you look at it lol, the part where it connects at the cat, and where it does the 90 and you use a pipe clamp are like shaved off lol. my subframe has some scratched on it but not many, and other then that i was hung up on a rock one day that did some damage to my floor but nothing bad has ever happend.
when your car bottoms out dont worry about it, unless it was a rock, or tree brantch, nothing will get up into the the oil pan, its quite safe.
and so are your fuel lines, they are pretty safe too, and if you brake a fuel line you will know fromt he smell and not gas lol.

Be careful with the front. I scraped the front and somehow managed to break the plastic on the side of the stock IC. The concrete parking stop bar things in parking lots will scrape up the bottom of the IC too sometimes. I'm upgrading the IC now that the car's out of action over it, but I'm stopping completely behind those stop bars and taking it easy on inclines from now on.
