CA Downpipe w/Highflow Cat and CEL's...
ooops...I guess I meant to say XTC, but it's from from Cobalt Addiction...lol
For the people that have it...how many of you got CEL's?
or does it just automatically give you one?
wanting to get one, but not if it gives me a CEL or messes anything up...

I just installed a 3" CA header/downpipe w/cat 2 days ago and have yet to get a SES light
The stock dp/cat is 5-10 lbs heavier than the CA and was a direct bolt on
see my post here for vid https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/pictures-videos-64/ca-3-header-downpipe-w-cat-vid-47689/

I have a 2.4 with an xtc b-pipe w/cat. It throws the p0420 CEL all the time. This CEL just means low cat efficiency and will not affect the running of the engine.
You can turn this cell off with a scan guage easily enough, but to prevent it, you will need an o2 sensor spacer, or an electronic "MIL eliminator" available online.
Bottom line - if you have an ss/sc, it will not throw a cell. If you have a 2.4 it will.

damn... did you guys break in the cat correctly... usually 500 miles of easy driving... if not you probably f'd it up and that will happen with any cat you run.
as I stated earlier. I"ve had mine for almost a yr now and never threw a CEL code ever.. proper break in is key with hi po cats guys

thanks for the heads up...im getting the XTC downpipe w/hi-flo cat. ill take it real easy with it on for bout 500 miles
I've had mine on for about 6 months & My CEL has been going crazy with P0420's this week. Almost every time that I drive it.
Now that just means it isn't Burning the fumes enough, correct? That doesn't mean that it is clogged?
Any problems that I might face? Other than a State Emissions Inspection?

I just got CEL wih about 200 miles of easy driving on the 2.5 w/cat... i am resetting it by un-hooking the battery. I have been careful in the break in period... i hope it doesn't return. I just might need a custom tune to remove it.
break-in is for *****'s...it's not a moving part in there. Not everything needs to be coddled like an over protective omther for ***** sake! As far as the codes go i dn't know...either have someone with hptuners turn the code off...or just get used to clearing it every now and then. It seems to be everyone with the XTC down pipe has the problem.
