Can someone identify this engine.

theres this engine at the junkyard right now. i kinda want it so i can part out the engine.

im not dumb when it comes to this just need verification.

ok the cobalt at the junkyard was the ss/na the 2.4.
the coil pack cover says 2.2, but i know the 2.4's are in the n/a's
but i dont have a 2.4 to verify. im almost positive its the 2.4 though because the 2.2 are not vvt

if this is the 2.4, i will be buying the motor and parting it out for anybody interested.

i posted this in the other thread for the intake manifold looking like a 2.2. Heres a comparison shot i took when i installed mine over a year ago. 2.2 is on the car, 2.4 is on top

Only cobalt motor Ive seen in person is a 2.0... HOWEVER, my buddy has a 2.4 and I could check under his hood if youd like tomorrow, he probably still has the plastic covers on.

The VVT was on the 2.4s and the late model 2.2s I think tho.

Id hope that someone with a 2.4 can chime in on how it looks different.

Ecotec VVT

what year is the Ecotec motor....it might be a 2.4L Ecotec since the have Ecotec VVT showing on the valve cover, but in 2009 the Ecotec 2.2L got parts from the 2.4L Ecotec since it wasnt going to be offerd in a Cobalt anymore....

The 2.2L Ecotec got the VVT and cam phasers from the 2.4L Ecotec Cobalt Giving them 155 hp compared to 148 in 2008....

So if the Cobalt ur getting the motor from is a 2009 and newer Cobalt, its a 2.2L Ecotec VVT, but if its 2008 and older its a 2.4L Ecotec VVT....
Hope I didnt confuse you bro, but there is ur answer....
