What is your end goal, what is your current car worth? Auto or manual?

Would you be looking for a LSJ or LNF SS?

My 2.2 is only worth like 6k but I owe 11k but my goal for my cobalt was to make it a auto ss but don't think it's worth it because by the end of it all I could have brought a real ss and I do kinda miss 5 speed

In my opinion the auto alone would ruin it for me. There are die hard fans of the auto though, I'm just not one of them. Then it comes to how much you owe on it still. I'm modding mine quite a bit but I owe nothing.

It's the engine the LSJ is the 05-07 2.0 engine with the supercharger often refered to as SS/SC it has regular injectors and thus is the better engine for all out builds (please don't argue with this, at the moment since they don't have more stuff for the LNF it's true). The LNF engine is the one in the cobalt SS from 08-10 (came in the sky and solstice in 07) it has a K04 turbo and is refereed to as the SS/TC. Both SS' have the same F35 transmission except the LSJ has a 3.86 (I believe off of memory) and the LNF one has a 4.05 final drive ratio. The G85 package is the F35 transmission with an LSD. The LNF is better at easily making power in the stock configuration, on pump (not E85) you can hit over 300 WHP and 350 WTQ although you should have some supporting mods with this such as the GMS1 sensors, charge pipes with intercooler and a downpipe (add E85 instead of 93 and you're looking at adding about 50 of both hp and tq). The LNF also has a more refined suspension stock although there are better aftermarket options. The one main drawback to the LNF though is the direct injection which limits the power with an upgraded turbo on a stock fuel system because you can't supply enough fuel. There are ways around this now (bigger injectors, cams with a bigger fuel lobe and a 5th injector). The most common upgrade to the LNF is the ZFR turbo with is a EFR 6758 turbo and doesn't add too much lag while making it a close to 400 WHP pump gas car, the downside to this turbo is that it creates so much low end torque it will destroy the stock transmission in a matter of time. The LSJ engine stock has the M62 supercharger that with a 2.8'' pulley and proper suporting mods (as well as meth injection) should put you at about 280 WHP but this does require more work than the LNF to get to that point. A supercharger upgrade is the TVS which is capable of pushing mid 300's to low 400's depending on the setup (some are tuned to only a bit over 300 to be a daily driver). You should add an option b (cooling mod), header and downpipe, dual pass and make sure the intercooler pump is working mainly (I know there are things I'm forgetting). Both engines are pushing the limit at anything around 400 WHP although they will commonly hold more.

Huge wall of text there and I know I missed quite a bit still.

Edit-when I started typing the two other answers weren't there.

Since you want an SS/SC just start looking for ones that have lower mileage and have been taken care of. You should be able to pick up a really nice one for 9k or less so you shouldn't have that much more that you owe then.

Why would you want an LSJ over an LNF? Just curious.

Better for all out power, much easier to make power at about 400 wheel and under on the LNF though.

You can find a higher mileage LNF fairly cheap though.

If you don't have dreams of big power(sub 500hp) then get the TC. Better suspension, easier to make power, NLS, and brembos make it miles better of a car.

That is, unless you have dreams of big HP builds

Price is a reason. Another is I rather have a supercharged just a fan of them but I get into enough trouble with the cops in my 2.2 lol my licenses is already on thin ice as it is but the main reason is the price since I do owe 11k on my current Balt and I don't have the best job out there

If you owe that much pay off your damn car first, grow up with regards to your driving habits and get a better car in the future.

It makes no sense to put yourself in so much debt especially since as you put it, you don't have the greatest job around!

If they person has to ask LSJ or LNF they are not hunting for that 500whp.

No offense but work on a small house first. And start being smart on the roads. You will save hundreds if not thousands if you have a good driving record vs bad.

I think he sold that fairly quick, it was a good deal.
