If it was me I would go 350z. If youre not that into power and pretty much just want a change then go 350. At the end of the day a Cobalt SS is still like everyone loves pointing out..just a Cobalt. It has the same HORRIBLE interior that the base Cobalt does with a few better looking things added. I would definitely take practicality into it also. The rear cross member in the 350z is awful and really limits storage. If I had it over again I would have bought a Volvo C30 over the Cobalt. It has an AMAZING interior and really unique exterior. It would be tough finding one used though is the only thing. Trading places I would keep your current car for a few more years save up some money and then drop it on exactly what you want and have little to no monthly payment.

Funny thing is 350 or TC is what I would want! In a couple years I'd be 21-22 so my tastes aren't going to really change. I want a 2010 Camaro by after I get my masters as a little present though hehehe.

No debate. Cobalt owns the 350 every time. It was a terrible car with the worst quality of any Z car. I recommend the following Nissan cars that will bow your mind. 300ZX twin turbo. A nicer 90-96 can be had for the price of either of those cars. Awd twin-turbo V6. 180SX. great rwd coupe from Nissan that is cheap and with SR20DET, is WAY faster than the Cobalt. Also much easier to mod, as the computer is easy to manipulate and the displacement is higher. Add in the Silvia body panels, and you have the Sileighty (Silvia 180SX). The best drift car of all time.

Check out this vid on Youtube. These are the best cars you can afford for your money. I'd recommend any of this aside from the Audi. Those motors are a betch to deal with out of warranty. Obviously the under 20 grand is where you want to look.

I actually recently made the switch from an 09 SS to an 04 Pearl White 350z.. and I honestly couldn't be happier. I love the Z.. Took about 6 different test drives to find the right one, but I did and I love it.

All in all, its your decision. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise cause in the end if you do, you'll end up regretting it.

My advice is be sure which one you want. Every car is different, don't settle for the first one you test drive. I'll be honest, the first few Z's I test drove felt terrible!! Took a bit to find the one I actually bought, but when I test drove it I knew it was the one.

Also my insurance for the Z dropped $200 every 6 months for me, so that was also a huge plus!

and to ION, your credibility just went out the window...... AWD 300ZX? Seriously?

If you have money to mod, 350 hands down.

alright, so the actual hickoverlord showed me this thread, seems how i actually drive a 350z. its pretty cool to see a forum not completely bashing on someones opinions and questions about a different car not pertaining to the forum, so i give the colbat world that lol. as for the 350z vs cobalt ss, driving and being in both just about every day, it really is just your own wants and needs. yea ok the ss comes with a sc/tc and the 350 is n/a, but for me one of the advantages was that the 350z is rwd, to me its alot funner to drive. the cobalt has a **** load more room then the Z does as far as storage, but for me i'm a single guy, no wife and kids to worry about, so i dont have alot of stuff to haul around back and forth, the z wins there. i'm not really to sure about prices on ss's, but i bought my z a little over a year ago, '03 for $14000 out the door. had 65k miles on it, 6spd base model. i'm not really sure if it was the smartest to do, i definitely couldof found better but at the time i absolutely had to get a new car and really wanted a Z. i'm not peticularly happy with my exact Z mainly bc i wanted the high-rev engine. has a little more torque but a little less hp than my current DE engine has, or maybe those are backwards lol.

all in all man, its good to get opinions from people, just dont base your personal likes just b/c of what someone else says. get out there and test drive both cars, multiple cars and multiple times. get a feel for which one YOU think is better for you.

Yeah 04 Z's are going for 13K now, seems to be the trend. I want the blue 350z if anything, I'm also aiming for a blue SS if thats what I end up getting. The only thing is I'd love to go test drive them both without salesmen peddling me about buying it on the spot. To test drive a car, do you have to be pretty locked into the sale or is it typical to tell them what kind of car you're interested in, and ask to test drive it.

You gotta buy a sports car like a Z at the right time of year to get the best price. I got mine three years ago in February for 13,500 out the door. Its an 03 enthusiast and had only 26k on it when I bought it. Besided the hideous wheels it had the car was near showroom condition. The car had been sitting there almost all winter and they just wanted it gone so they were more than willing to work with me. Even giving almost 5k in trade in money on my POS cavalier lol.

Never buy a sports car in the summer they arent as willing to work with you since they can move them alot faster when its nice out

To test a vehicle just display interest and ask to drive it. The fun thing about the 350 is it's a 2 seater. So bring a friend and there will be no room for the salesman to go with u anyways. When I was younger I used to go with a buddy and test drive cars all the time. Only rarely did they come with is. Maybe they knew we weren't on planning on buying a car??? Who knows. But it's one of the first things u do when looking at a vehicle is test drive it.

F. I meant to say rwd. I've been under an 01 Impreza changing fluids, so that was prolly on my mind. And awd 300zx would kick ass though.

x2 I bought my g5 gt in the winter and I got a much better deal had I would of waited till the summer. Dealerships seem to be much more easier to deal with around that time of year thats for sure.

i almost bought a 98 Mustang SVT Cobra a few winters ago. The dealer was willing to lower the price like crazy to get rid of it. Im happy i didnt buy it tho cuz Chicago winters arent too fun to drive in!! Im really happy with my Cobalts. Ive got snow tires for my LT so winter isnt much of a problem. Drivability is one thing to consider and insurance rates unless ur rich or having mommy and daddy pay ur bills. Theres a few things to think about. I would buy a Cobalt tho!!!!

Cobalt all day IMO. 350's do not meet all the hype they get. Sure they have RWD, but the aftermarket is more expensive then the Cobalt and you won't make decent power without a power adder, which the LNF comes with.

if you have money to mod a 350z after you buy it then do that.....**** a cobalt evos are getting cheaper as well. a na 350z vs a turbo cobalt we kno who would win but when you turbo a 350 its a different story. think about the long run before you decide.
YouTube - Turbonetics 350z dyno

test drive them both and see which one you like better for a dd.

SO i went over to the 350 forums and they all said pretty much the same stuff ,except more leaning towards the 350 obviously. They claim with good snow tires RWD won't be much of a problem, and apparently a lot of them think that the SS is "ghey" lol

I have a g35 coupe at home, while it is nice and built better, it just isn't nearly as fun to drive to me.

Even pullied Cobras get around in the snow on good snow tires. That's not a problem at all. I do find that a higher majority of 350 owners think their car is the **** as opposed to Cobalt owners though. Really want to be associated with that?
