install the springs now get the alignment now also it's not much. you can get the camber kit later like i did no biggie. but you need to align the tires after the drop or else your donna wear your tires bad and/or your steering will be off.

You should get an alignment the day you drop the car. Why would you spend all that money on springs and not go the extra mile to get the camber kit and alignment? It only makes sense. If you are going to mod, do it right. Just save up a few extra pennies, you will thank yourself later.
um im am getting an alignment the day i drop my car.. when did i say i wasnt? also i wont have the camber kit by the time i drop it so before you go flamming know the facts.

yea. thats what i did .. when i dropped my car i didnt have it nor did i see a sense in having it cause the tires looked straight but down the line i just figured i'd pick one up and throw it on just in case

sorry, I read the post wrong. I thought you were saying you were getting the springs installed and then two weeks later get the alignment and camber kit. I wasn't trying to flame you I was just saying that you should do it all at once. Sorry for the misunderstanding, in case you haven't noticed by the way I type I have the tendancy to mix words up and rearrange them. I also do this when I read. I can't help it, it's a learning disability I have struggled with forever. Again, sorry I wasn't trying to flame, I was just trying to be helpful.
I have a dropped base coupe, just like what you want to do. You do NOT need a kit. I had it just in case it was needed at the time. You don't install the kit when you install the springs. You bring it with you to the alignment, and if the adjustments that need to be made exceed the cars limits, then the guy doing the alignment will use the kit. The kit has 2 bolts, one per wheel. However, the camber on the Cobalt is not adjustable like most cars. It is factory set. The holes in the struts for the bolt have no adjustability. You will however still need an alignment for toe adjustment. That simply involves resetting your steering tie rods, a completely different thing. My alignment, from GM, after installing my springs cost me $50. Do not drive your car around after installing your springs without getting the alignment done. I realize you want to work on your car, but do it right the first time.

now I feel smart because halfcent backed up my claim, haha. Anyways I have Tenzo's on my LS and I didnt need a camber kit, my alignment was not off and I've had no problems. I've put about 3k on my balt since lowering, and I routinly check my tread wear. The tires wear evenly across the entire surface.
i tend to disagree i think the camber kit is necessary, i've put cloe to 15k miles on my balt since i dropped it and my tires are not wearing evenly , and yes i had my car aligned. i just bought the camber kit from ingalls and it will go on tomorrow.
It's not a matter of weather or not you agree. Did you get an alignment? Was the shop able to align it properly? Then you don't need the kit. If you didn't get an alignment, that's the problem.
