Clutch Decision

Hey guys. I had a few questions.

Well first, my clutch is slipping when I punch the gas. At least I think that's what it is. When I'm driving and I hit the gas, the RPMS rev up and then it catches. My foot is off the clutch pedal when this happens.

If I do need a new clutch, what do you guys suggest? I have no idea what clutch is in there right now, since I bought the car used and was modified at that point. I don't want to get too expensive. I was thinking somewhere in the Exedy line or so. But I wanted to get your guys' feedback on this. Thanks.

exedy is a top of the line clutch. ive never had any issues with their stuff. i plan on getting the multi plate as soon as it comes out for the sstc. i think their hyper single would be good on your car.

Thanks for you uncalled for comment Stu. I know how to drive stick. If you had READ my post it states that when the RPMS are rising my foot is OFF the clutch pedal. It has nothing to do with my ability to drive my damn car.

Hmm I'll look into it. Thanks man.

So you think the clutch in my car needs to be replaced?

your clutch is fried due to your driving. thus it is your fault. like i said the GMPP clutch kit is a great clutch upgrade for your power level, probably a good idea to invest in a flywheel as well in case yours is warped. if you do reuse it make sure you have it resurfaced.

Ok. The clutch also has 62k miles on it too. But anyway, thanks for the suggestion. Is there any way I can see what clutch is in it now? I know it's not stock, I've driven a stock SS and my clutch is tighter than a stock clutch.

I would imagine the car has to be torn apart for me to see what clutch is in it currently.

well obviously you would need to look at it first. if its stock it will have "luk" on it somewhere. it having 62k on it is not an excuse, but since you got the car used ill give you the benefit of the doubt
