Cheap Clutches??? The Clutch is meant to hold stock trq numbers and was tested with over 600 launch control 1/4 mile runs. I have seen several including my own hold well over 400 something trq on stock clutch on pump gas no idea where it was on E a lot more I guess . The biggest thing is not to romp on wot it at less than 3,000 rpm in fourth or 5th gear then most any tune with stock clutch will slip. I know of one that was on stock tune guy was driving it wot in 4th and 5th gear at low rpm like an automatic wrecked the clutch in a few thousand miles. What is weird is how the LNF's can vary from 330 to over 400 trq numbers with similar tunes.

If they won't give u a new clutch I'd at least make them pay for the install of an aftermarket clutch of your choosing.

Dropped the car off tonight. They are gonna test it tomorrow and see what they can find. Im actually gonna see about just buying an aftermarket and having them install it if they would cut me a decent deal.

Ah gotcha. Saw a white tc there. Thought maybe that was you since that was the only time I'd seen that TC since the original owner sold it.

No luck. They told me they didnt feel anything and it might be tires spinning :/ lol. I guess since the tune wasnt on and I told them to go up a steep hill, but guess they didnt really rip on it. The service manger told me if I wanted to put my own aftermarket clutch in it whenever he would give me a deal on install so that made me happy enough.

Lol yup. He said I might have it confused with the tires spinning but I know my car doesnt have near the power to spin them up hill in 4th lol. But I should have figured the car would act fine when they test it. thats my luck

I indeed took my car to 110mph on my test drive, everything seemed legit. I am positive they used it for their "lunch" runs as well, as I test drove 2 cars that were both less than on E while this car had 3/4 a tank and xm radio subscribed to it that is now cancelled a week later.

Not too worried, I don't plan on driving it like a wuss either.

I guess I'm not the only one to actually drive it a little hard on the test drive lol.

he said to take it on the interstate, its a HUUGE sweeping turn and as i made it ONTO the interstate i was at 90 and got to 110 and shut it down. He braced himself...haha. However i'm sure they've done it as well, it is wutevs. Runs/Drives fine for now.

Still not used to the power over my Passat...rolling into it in 2nd gear and spinning until i let off/shift is new to me.

I don't know if my clutch is slipping or if its just losing traction. I'm not surprised the mechanic didn't know, if its cold enough and since the SS/TC is powerful enough it could break loose i bet.

I have a SS/SC, e85, 2.8, cooling mods, 4.2l TB, ported m62, CAI and Full exhaust and LT headers. I have been ramping up my timing with HP Tuners and recently just hitting it in 3rd or 4th gear above 3500 rpm at Full throttle the revs will just spin up and barely increase in speed, i have to watch how hard i hit the throttle now unless i'm in 5th.

I'm experiencing this at sub 32 degrees F on dry cement on the highways and have no clue if my tires are just breaking loose or if my clutch is slipping. i've got about 40k on a stage 3+ spec clutch, and its always been strong, but since E85 and cold temps my car hauls **s compared to summer and 93 octane i was running a month ago.

To OP, my stock clutch with GMS1 slips when it's cold outside.

I'd just be sweet on it till it is warm.

Clutch slipping = Rev's without speedometer increase
Spinning wheels = Rev's and speedo increase.

you are correct, but there were points in time where the revvs would level out and cause an increase in the speedo.

I did some tests just a little bit ago with my windows open and changing lanes and it definitely is clutch slip. Its wierd, it does it more when the car is warmed up and running for a while than if it cold.

Oh yeah, it will definitely catch up without letting off the gas. My descriptions are almost the 'instantaneous' reaction.
