I think sales for the Cobalt are slow because they weren't enough produced. You can go to just about any dealership and find 50 F-series or Camry's. My dealership I bought my cobalt from had 2 base models, and 1 SS/SC. Yet it had 100 Silverado's. It all depends on what kinda of vehicle you need for your life style, not to mention little girls are buying these huge cars to feel more comfortable in, maybe they should learn to drive them atleast! lol

I honestly don't know how people afford to drive those things. Either they have some great jobs, or they're forgoing other things in life so they can fuel-up their precious rigs... Don't get me wrong, I loved my truck but there comes a point where you have to realize that you're just throwing money away...

Me and my wife got rid of our SUV for a mazda3. We have been saving a lot in gas money, but it is more cramped. It's worth it in the long run though.

Personally I think Americans need to sacrifice a little so we don't have to be so dependent on foreign oil. Also, to save the environment.
My cousin is a prime example. Has an '02 Yukon Denali, and while it's a nice vehicle, it was costing him over $90 per tank last summer. His excuse? "I need a V8." For WHAT?? He doesn't tow or haul anything; just drives it! The kicker to all of this is, he's always complaining about never having enough money. Gee, I wonder why?!
Sadly, I suspect these same people will still be saying these same things even when a gallon of gas costs $10...
it just goes to show u american companies need to step up on there small car programs lol toyota and honda domating that market lol america can use a few hybirds 2.... just your 2 cents from a american boy whos first car was a cobalt
That's just it- we really wouldn't even 'need' hybrids if more people would start buying economical gas-powered cars like the Cobalt, Civic, etc. Why do you think Civics sell like hot-cakes? Because they get nearly (or over) 40 MPG and they run forever. That's all we really need right now.

Car companies will keep making SUV's and trucks until consumers stop buying them... it's supply and demand. Same with people buying these things and paying high gas prices... as soon as the costs of driving a truck outweigh the benefits consumers will begin buying smaller cars.
Anyway, all I can say is that Americans aren't going to "sacrifice a little" until it hurts in the wallet.
End of economics lesson. Haha
